Lots of good info here on fixing the evo .46. Just wanted to add something I found on my evo .46 after being on the verge of tossing it due to deadsticks, inconisistant needle settings, etc. I pulled...

RE: Need help to salvage wing/empenage

Thanks foodstick, I will give that a try. I did reinforce the fuse below and behind the windows, which is why that part of the fuse is OK. Unfortunately, the top part of the canopy (where the wing...

Need help to salvage wing/empenage

After many wonderful flights, I managed to plant my Kadet Senior into the ground, nose first. Everything in front of the side windows is trash (lots of itty-bitty bits), but originally I thought the...

I'm getting ready to top off the motorhome's propane supply and get her loaded today. Will be there tomorrow night and really looking forward to it. This will be my second trip to the Joe Nall and...

RE: Yet another Venture 60 build thread

Just finished mine and had to add about 4 1/2 oz in the nose to balance with OS FS70II. Only mods were individual aileron servos, wheel pants, Sullivan golden rods and Sullivan tailwheel. Kit was a...

RE: Are 'Evolution' engines any good??

Will just add my 2 cents worth....My Evolution 46 has been run for 2 years with the following observations: As new, ran great, although idle mixture set at far side of limiter. One off runway...

RE: Sr. Kadet Arf Weight - To Much??

My senior weighed in at 10lbs 11 oz with a FS70 4 stroke and flew great. First kit w/lots of stiffening, bracing on stabs, barn door ailerons, etc.

RE: Quick and cheap airplane stand

Thanks! What a great idea! Now I know how to transport that P40 when I finally get it finished. I wasn't sure how to get it to the field in the back of my truck, but this stand is a natural. :D

RE: Balancing Alpha 60 RTF

This is sooooo embarassing....

Turns out what I thought were 1 oz weights were 1/4 oz weights. So instead of 6 oz of weight, it was 1 1/2 oz.

Oh man.....

It did take .6 oz to balance...

RE: Balancing Alpha 60 RTF

3.25 on the nose! Sorry for the delay, but had to start it up outside before rains came (just got a little wet:)). 6 oz in the tail (2 -3 oz sticks on top of each other in the tail). Almost forgot to...

RE: Balancing Alpha 60 RTF

OK, swapped position of battery and reciever...big change. With 6 oz in tail, nose is about 15 degrees down (jury-rigged protractor setup ;)). Much better than what we had before. This seems better...

RE: Balancing Alpha 60 RTF

Nope, no fuel in tank. Unit was built according to the directions (what little building there is). That's why I'm so confused on this. So far I have 2 ARFs and 2 kits (working on kit #3-Venture 60)...

Balancing Alpha 60 RTF

Finishing up an Alpha 60 RTF and was doing the CG check, which Hangar 9 says is 4 1/4" from leading edge. So far I have almost 14 OZ of lead in the tail, and it is still a little nose heavy.[X(] Is...

RE: First Plane Lost

Race,

Bruce had them in stock, so took about 11 days to reach me across country. Build is going well, but one aileron was bowed 3/16" and couldn't be used. Bruce promptly sent me a new pair of...

First Plane Lost

Well, I knew it would happen sooner or later, and today was the day. Wind was kicking up now and again, but have flown in similar conditions before. I have almost 2 years of sport flying under my...

RE: what's it cost to join your local club?

Club fees used to be $60/year, but had problems w/folks doing their share of mowing. Fee raised this year to $90 and we contract out the mowing/trimming to one of the club members. It takes about 3...

RE: Venture 60 feedback

Interesting Daniel....I've got a kit on the way to replace the 4*40 I'm flying now. The 4*40 is just a tad small for my eyes at altitude and I am hoping that the Venture will be easier to keep in...

RE: 4 Star 40 Landing Gear Wipeout

Think I will try a pair of #8 nylon screws in the outermost stock location and put a #10 or 1/4" center and further forward. There isn't much room to work in that fuselage, and I want to make sure I...

RE: 4 Star 40 Landing Gear Wipeout

Another good suggestion, zxqbrt. Would you recommend I use the same size screws (#8's I think) in the stock blind nuts, or redrill the gear and install new blindnuts for a different size or pattern....

RE: Has anyone used Dubro's Super Strength Landing Gear?

I have this exact gear on my LT40, combined with a Fultz Nose Gear, and wish I had made the change a year earlier. Bending the original gear after almost every landing really became old, fast. The...

RE: 4 Star 40 Landing Gear Wipeout

Ken, that definately is a possibility, but there is a severe twist in the gear, and I'm not sure I can untwist it back to origianal form. The wheelmay or may not come back to it's original position...

4 Star 40 Landing Gear Wipeout

Well, had a dead stick this morning, and brough it in a little too hot (or not enough runway...you pick:D). Off into the "weeds and seeds" as we say and managed to hit the only blasted ant hole out...
