RE: Best stock electric truck for wheelies

I'll probably get flamed for this, but check out the Redcat Volcano EPX. They're cheap, more durable than people give them credit for, and come with everything you need to run for under $200 on eBay....

RE: Just picked up a RC-10T3.

The box came today. So Iof course tore into it and started checking the truck out. It looks like it's been pretty lightly used, and is is awesome shape. Everything works great, and it runs its butt...

RE: Just picked up a RC-10T3.

Ilike what I'm hearing!!

Ibelieve it is a ball diff, and it has a slipper clutch. I've been doing research on brushless conversions, and apparently these trucks take them well. There's a few vids...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Yessir!! I'll be taking a serious look at one in a few years.
Iwas a bit underwheled by the current model. You still get all the handling and fine-tuning goodness, but the WRXis actually a hair...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Overnighted from Japan!!
No, it was the same 5 speed trans used in the old Japanese verion WRX STI (old meaning before you could buy an STIhere). The old USDM(standard) WRX5 speed is notoriously...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Big-ish. Imean you can buy a GMcrate engine up to 572 cubic inches, but Ithink the biggest affordableperformance V8 out there right now is one of the GMLSengines. The LSengines ar epretty amazing...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Very true. My wife's Hyundai Sonata has a direct injection engine. It's a good little engine, plenty of power and great mileage. Sounds like a sewing machine, lol. It chatters like a diesel.
I'm...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Oh I'd never claim a carb is as efficient, just a whole lot easier to repair, tune, compensate for parts changes, etc.
Iactually learned engines on the old pushrod fuel injected 5.0 Mustangs. They...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

The TC in my Wrangler can be defeated fairly easily, but the stability control system is another story. It's always on, unless you go through some ridiculous procedure to deactivate it. You then have...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

1996 was the official beginning of the OBDIIsystems in all vehicles. This is what really raised the level of complexity.
Isee plenty of 90's vehicles still on the road, but not beyond that for the...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Technically, a properly tuned carb setup can do the same, just not as efficiently.

RE: Just picked up a RC-10T3.

Good info, thanks!!
The ad said it runs great, so we'll see. Iread a fair amount about the RC-10T series, and the common theme is the T3 is the most durable, but parts are hard to come by. They said...

RE: Just picked up a RC-10T3.

Thanks!! The body looks OK, but looking closely at the cut lines makes them look a little wobbly. Might just be how the body distorts at the bottom. I'll probably still get a new body, and paint it...

Just picked up a RC-10T3.

So Iscored a decent looking RC-10T3, ready to run, from mister Edward Bay, for $70 shipped. Couldn't pass it up at that price. Has a Futaba Magnum RX/TX setup, what looks like a Futaba steering...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Furthermore, with the way technology keeps advancing, all the electronic sensors and doodads you need to keep a car running correctly today become obsolete faster than ever. So in 20 years when you...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

I've seen that, and the outcome shouln't surprise anyone. Like Isaid, cars have become bigger, heavier, and faster, so they HADto become more safe. Not to say you were better off getting in an...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Why not? It's how people got around for decades before fuel injection became standard. Icould drive my 55 every day if Icould afford the gas, but that's a product of the modifications I've made to it,...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Very true, but to a limited extent. The only way to really increase horsepower is to change engine components. An engine is basically just a big air pump. The amount of air it can move is restricted...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Not totally unadjustable, but you have to buy and install a timing adjuster (common on modded 4.6 Mustangs) to do it.
Me?Iprefer carburetors....

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

For an engine to "ping", something has to ignite a pocket of air and fuel outside of the controlled burn in the cylinder. Detonation or knock is what occurs in relation to incorrect ignition timing...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Pinging is the air/fuel mixture igniting OUTSIDEof the flame front, meaning not where/when optimum combustion happens in the cylinder. It's typically caused by a hot spot in the cylinder, which can...

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Octane ratings exist purely to describe the anti-knock characteristics of the fuel, or it's tendency to burn in a uniform or controlled manner, and have nothing to due with the energy characteristics...

RE: Let's hear what you have for the 1:1 real car??

Definitely can't complain!!

The dude backed out on me, so the carbs will have to wait. Kinda miffed, since I already paid for the job........

RE: Old new car question, please see what you think

Don't do it. RCFuel contains lubricants, since 2-cycle engines do not have seperate oiling systems. At best, you run the risk of damaging some engine sensors. At worst, the alcohol in the fuel can do...
