I bought an aerobird tail and it is able to hinge up and down. It is great!! One of my problems was going into a turn and getting so much 'up' that I stalled. Now, I can turn hard and not stall.

I took apart mine and found that the control lines were not properly placed in the gear. It is best to cut a view-hole in the fuselage. Then you can optimize where the control lines go.

There are a number of posts on here about how to fix the boom. Search for firebird/fighterbird/boom.
The common fix is a wire tie over the boom and some tape. It worked for me.
