It's a Ryobi! Stihl FS 36-44 are Ryobi's. Metric screws, different muffler, carb and reed back plate but Ryobi's....Bob

Check out chipbreak on eBay. He does some outrageous and original things to Homelites for boats but very useful for your cars.. Very personable and easy to deal with.

The 28cc Ryobi has a slightly different cylinder fin configuration at the spark plug. The 31's have a full top fin as in your pictures and the 28's a couple narrow fins at the plug. Somewhere I have...

Dave is right about the piston but I would also add that the ring gap should be placed between the intake port and one of the transfers upon reassembly. In theory the ring will move around...
