I think it will take a lot of the "exhale" pressure to develope the tank pressure I need. I'm concerned that the restricted vent hose will not let the engine breath properly.

I do the same thing to minimize the problem as much as possible, but I suspect that it is a proximity issue and anything within a 12" diameter (or some number of inches) around the fuse is impacted. ...
