RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

I received the spring a few days ago. Travelling right now but will install it soon and report back. Will measure it too and post the specs here so it is no longer a mystery.

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

So I ran across some engine tuners at the field this weekend. They helped me get it tuned so that it runs acceptably. There is still some bog on acceleration, but it doesn't die. It runs the best...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

I got the carb back today fully rebuilt. The guy said he didn't see anything wrong with it, but sometimes the passages can have something in them that gets blown out during the rebuild. He had it...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

I sent the carb out for a professional rebuild. Will report back once I reinstall it. Also intend to try out a CH ignition on it thanks to a very helpful forum guest. Will report back as soon as I...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

No offense taken, that is actually good to hear I wouldn't want to use it if it had to run this badly. I will keep chasing this problem. What should the timing be set at? Since it is electronic and...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

So I went through the systems last night, replaced the fuel lines (they were still soft). I removed both carb covers and sprayed it out good with carb cleaner. There was a little bit of stuff in...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

If I set the low speed for best operation, IE if it will actually accelerate properly, then no the high speed needle doesn't adjust like it should. There seems to be a lot of interaction between the...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

Interesting ideas. I will try rebuilding the carb again. Possibly one or more of the idle circuits are blocked? The brison manual says that the starting point for the low needle is 2.5 turns, so I...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

Dan, thanks for the suggestions. I think I'm going to have to try to find someone local that is familiar with gas engines. Neither of the clubs I have been to have any active gas fliers. I was...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

I just ordered a prop, I can see that mine is too aggressive. I already tried setting it to 1.5 turns out on the low (thats what the walbro manual says to do) with the 20x10 prop I have. At 1.5...

RE: Brison 2.4 tuning problems

It has the CIMMASTER electronic ignition on it with no mechanical advance, so it must be electronic.

The carb a WT-76A.

I started over after I posted earlier. Set it to factory settings of...

Brison 2.4 tuning problems

Hi,

I've got a newer (18 months old) Brison 2.4 engine on a Dynaflite Super Decathlon. I can't for the life of me tune this engine to run properly.

It is all stock and probably not...

RE: .70 4 stroke IMAC

Some great suggestions here, thanks! I like the GP Extra it looks like a great fit for the 0.70 I already have. The RV looks to be similar in size as well. I'm sure I will want something bigger...

RE: .70 4 stroke IMAC

Thanks for the recommendation. I've got 12 years of RC airplane experience, so I don't fly the trainer anymore the motor is just sitting there. Want to put it on something I can enjoy! :)

.70 4 stroke IMAC

Is anyone flying an OS .70 four stroke on an IMAC plane? Its an older surpass II I think.

I was looking at either the Extreme Flight 58" Extra 300 which shows .46-.82 glow or the Aeroworks...

RE: Needle Bearings VS. Oil Content

I went to Super Tigers site and looked at the engine manuals for their products. Their operating manuals state at least 15% minimum for the 3450 and 18% minimum for all other engines. If an older...

Needle Bearings VS. Oil Content

I have read many times that the glow engines require 20% oil because of the bushed connecting rod. I'm wondering why the manufacturers don't put a needle bearing on the connecting rod so that 5% or...

RE: House of Balsa Super Decathlon Electric

If anyone is interested, I did some further testing with the receiver/castle creations Phoenix 45 and found some serious range problems. I'm positive this is what caused the demise of the Decathlon....

RE: House of Balsa Super Decathlon Electric

The Typhoon was repairable. I took it to the local hobby shop where I purchased it and they helped me out. A few of the magnets had seperated from the casing and just had to be epoxied back on.

House of Balsa Super Decathlon Electric

I built a House of Balsa Schoolyard Scale Super Decathlon, and converted it to electric. I flew it for the first (and last) time yesterday.

The plane was a 47" wingspan, 329 sq. in of wing...

RE: First conversion - craftsman weedie

I took the exhaust off and this is two-ring piston. I'm not sure it was broken in very well because I can see the original machining marks on the rings. The piston and cylinder walls look very...

RE: First conversion - craftsman weedie

Yeah, I'm not sure about the size. If I tear it down, I'll measure the bore and stroke. I have two of the sears/poulan engines and one of them is a 22cc, it has a label on the trimmer head. I...

RE: First conversion - craftsman weedie

I agree, the sears engine is probably a 22cc. I'm not necessarily planning to fly it, but I've been using it as a test bed to see how to perform a conversion in general. My goal is to develop the...
