RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

I'd like to see somebody try that...

RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

My 6EXA has no exponential on the rudder! Double check that 4EXA & make sure you gor good rudder - you'll need it. That's why I got a new 9CSuper-Dang-Duper now.

RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

I plan to re-build my OS-15FX PBF real soon & I'm gonna try pull-pull on everything (except the throttle). I experimented with it on an LA-15 PBF - but it didn't have enough power to do diddly....

RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

Make sure - give it a few extra days to dry.

Getting a Grish Tornado (Tempest series) prop is another way to not break a prop. It will bend back time after time - but eventually will crack...

RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

I mix a litle expo in also - just to make the mid range a little less responsive.
Makes her a little less twitchy when I need some stable harrier.

RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

I'm now considering buying 2 new 25's for my combat planes.
Before I saw this thread - I was gonns use my PBF's 25 & only buy one more.
You're killing me, Bro!

RE: SPA3D vs. Mini 3D from Extreme ???

I'd like to know more about this. I have an OS-25FX on a PBF, but I flew a Spa3d a couple weeks ago - now I want to build one for my 25. I'm building a Burrito (Have you heard of it? - LOL) & I want...

RE: Fun .25 Profile?

Hey Pils - here's another possibility for you:
Quicker has plans on his web page for a profile he made completely from pink foam - you know that stuff some people make combat planes from. I...

RE: Pizza Box landing gear

I wouldn't loose the elevons if I were you. One of the things the PBF does - very well - is it teaches you how to use a rudder. As I understand - this is a required skill for advanced aerobatics &...

RE: Pizza Box landing gear

I like the looks of that fin - I'd paint a cockpit on it.
Looking forward to the flight report.

Oh - I almost forgot... Go make your bed - slob! :)

RE: Build your own PBF (Pizza Box Flyer, Flying Pizza Box)

BTW - The second PIC in the previous post is my current PBF - notice the streamer around my prop. Goinstraightup never had a chance -LOL. I'll admit it was a lucky cut - but for the sake of this...

RE: Pizza Box landing gear

Wing flex is not a problem. I went PBFing with a couple of friends last week & I almost thought he added some dihedral to the wing - there was so much flex! They flew great anyway.

I dialed-in...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

I thinned the med CA with some acetone (fingernail pollish remover) that I had from the lab at work.
It worked well enough tonight.
Tomorrow I'll get the right thin CA.

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

I'm putting the cap strips on the ribs... On the end ribs - should the cap strips sit coincident with the outer edge of the end rib? I know there's 2 more wing caps to glue on yet & I remember these...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

I had to make a run to the LHS for more thin CA. While I was there - I agonized over color schemes for an hour. Then I get home & realize I got med CA instead of thin. I just glued some tri-stock on...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

I managed to get the fuse & vert glued tonight after taking my daughter out for dinner. I just ran out of steam.
I picked up a very bendable piece of 1/16 X 4 today after work. Tomorrow I'll try...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

What engine should I plan for this bird that won't have me adding lead to get the C/G right?

I've been eye-balling a TTPro-46 at my LHS, but I'm open for suggestions. If that engine is good...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

Aw... I'm still just venting a little over recent events. I'm still kicking around several color scheme ideas. I'm sure I will be over it by tomorrow night.

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

I'll see if I can find some ammonia - thanks.

At what point (following the build order of the manual) can I consider myself half-way finished with the skeleton?

Never mind - I'm sleepy...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

Hoo boy! I haven't wet the sheeting this much since I was 2 years old!
One of the sheets was good and bendy. I glued it on already. The other 2 are still too stiff. I've wet them with a spray...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

I have the same problem at work. By the time I'm ready to make the drawings of a new design - I'm so familiar with it that I think EVERYTHING is pretty obvious. "What-ya mean you don't understand -...

RE: Burrito Build - all the questions you were afraid to ask

Wha - this is gonna be a long night. I can see now that there seems to be the assumption that I know a little bit about balsa-building a plane. It took me all this time to gather the parts for steps...
