Blue foam in So. Cal

I bought some blue foam for carving plugs that I plan to fiberglass over and make molds out of. Unfortunately, I had to order a bunch of it to get what little I needed because they dont sell it out...

parting plates

I would love to hear how you guys are making your parting plates. Mine always turn out either too close or too far away from the mold. How do you get the outline perfect?

Seam line filler

I accidentally cut one half of a fuselage below where the seam line should be. I joined the 2 halves with tape, but now the outside has a noticeable notch where I cut it to low. I would like to...

Yes, the molds do weigh a bit. They are not for production, but so far they have been very durable. The only problem Ive noticed is that the edges will chip a little after a couple fuselages are...

Multiple line vacuum bagging?

Anyone have a setup for a multiple line bagging sytem? If so, could you recommend a pump?

Im currently using an air compressor type pump from Gougeon (I believe the makers of west sytem epoxy)...

I actually lay up both parts, then pull them, tape them together and run seam tape on the inside. I dont have any pictures of the fuselages being laid up, but I could take some next time I lay up...

joining halves

Up to this point, I have only built molds to where I have to pull the parts, tape the two halves together, then apply the seam tape on the inside once everything is taped up.

I have layed up 2 fuselages. The first one I did with NHP epoxy, 3/4oz on the outside and 6 oz on the inside. It came out nice and strong, but a little heavy. It will make a good plane in heavier...

Yeah, I thought it would be neat to have a bunch of the big airliners. Anyone out there have a 3 view of the new airbus?

I also want to try and make a C-5A Galaxy and a C-130.
