RE: YS 160 Surging at idle

Be sure that your regulator is nice and clean. I know you said you cleaned it. The plunger should be a nice and shiny piece of brass...not dingy with fuel scum.

RE: 63 FZ top end rpm

My engine had no compression and now with the new ring, it has a massive amount of compression. Its actually truely amazing as over time you forget. I think the rings on these little motors can...

RE: YS63 FZ plunger

No its got the bubble impression of the opening...but that happens really quick in my experience. In fact in this one, it happend in 2 months and only about 20 tanks or so of fuel.

RE: YS63 FZ plunger

I already paid for the smaller plunger...
The problem is whats the chances that it leaks now with the diaphram that is 2 months old with the larger plunger?

The point is that YS and Central...

RE: YS63 FZ plunger

Well Central Hobbies should update their website and indicate its not a 100% equivalent replacement product. My regulator has a ledge the larger diaphram rests on and keeps it more "stable" against...

YS63 FZ plunger

I ordered a YS 63 FZ plunger from Central Hobbies, their part# YS1145 as shown on their blowup diagram at http://centralhobbies.com/Engines/parts/YS63FZEx.html. Anyway, the plunger that came is...

RE: 63 FZ top end rpm

The thickness or how big the snip is.
A new ring is $19.50, a bearings set is probably $20 ish, the other parts are probably much cheaper. Those are going to be the "high wear" parts.

Its a...

RE: Bearings stuck

I hate to use a piece of bent landing gear behind the bearings to apply pressure to pull them back out. Gosh...don't want to do that again. Make sure and put the bearings on the crank first so they...

RE: YS 63s regulator pink buildup

Yeh, don't use carb cleaner or any heavy petroleum solvents.... I would worry most about the silicon O'ring at the bottom of the diaphram. What happens with these silicon O'rings when you use things...

Bearings stuck

Working on this engine has been quite difficult.
Ok, I got the bearings out. Cleaned everything and went to put them back in. Most of the time the rear bearings have no particular orientation. ...

RE: Removing crankshaft and bearings

Ok I got the crank off working on the bearings now.
I returned the $3.99 battery puller and bought a $5.99 gear puller and it seemed to have the muscle to do it. When it came out, it popped under...

RE: Removing crankshaft and bearings

Ok, everything is much tighter than I am use to I guess. Do I have to do anything to put the washer back or will just the pressure of the prop and washer "reseat" it?

Thanks guys....I guess I...

RE: Removing crankshaft and bearings

Yeh, I bought one of those car terminal removal ones from AutoZone. It didn't work. It buggered up the drive washer pretty bad. I kept trying and then the car terminal remover pretty much...

What is the factory default for the YS63 LS Needle? I'm taking mine apart and I don't see that in the manual.

Looking at screw movement from the inside 2 turns out looks like it centers the...

RE: ys engine surging at full throttle

Its a YS63 pre-S version.
I run my engine dry each time.
I fly just about every week or every other week. It rarely sits for a month.

Actually very little rust for 6 years and 40...

RE: ys engine surging at full throttle

Thanks...yeh, I clearly saw fuel coming out of the "rear" of the value gasket cover at the seam line. In addition, I believe the gasket was not 100% when I took it off and put it back but didn't...

Just not sure about the Piston Ring...
Not even sure exactly how I can tell if it needs a new one when I look at it.

Overhauls have worked very well before me. All kinds of hidden girt and...

RE: YS-63 Engine Rebuild

I don't think I need that...it was running like a raped ape before hand and very reliable. It just needs a light duty overhaul.
