JR 9303 'Spoiler Stick'

I'm new to the JR 9303 as I just got it last week. My previous radio was a Hitec Flash 5 with very limited capability. I downloaded both the JR Sailplane and the Airplane manuals and the Knight...

RE: XP9303 Compatible Receivers

Thanks very much for your answer. Actually I don't have any old JR receivers; I just got the radio and the only receiver I have now is a new R770S. I'm moving from Hitec and I have a number of...

XP9303 Compatible Receivers

I've just purchased a XP9303 and I will need a number of receivers, 4 to 9 channels for use in sailplanes and gliders. I know that the R770s, R700, and R649 are compatible. Can you please tell me...

RE: Tiger Moth 400 set-up tweak?

I don't know the spec for your motor, but I'm running a Razor brushless with a 6.0 gear ratio on 3S li-poly. With this gearing, I started with a 11X7 APC slowfly prop and have since changed to a...

RE: TM 400 -- thrust trim--need advice please

Thanks.

I re-checked COG and it was at 15mm leading edge of lower wing, measured with the plane upright. I've added an additional 1/2 ounce of lead and it's now at 10mm. I'll try it as soon...

TM 400 -- thrust trim--need advice please

I just completed the assembly of a Tiger Moth 400 that my grandkids bought me for Christmas. Rather than using the stock 400 motor, I used a lighter, and more powerful Razor 2500. I’ve got the COG...

RE: GWS E Starter-set up help

My wife now knows that when I buy a $39 plane, that I'll really spend another $250 and week or two working on it to get it to fly.

I've got the HG, with the metal gearbox, in a Formosa. It...

RE: GWS E Starter-set up help

I had trial version of Motocalc, but I almost always check this motor calculator. I also have a DC amp meter to check static amps. The Himax 2025-4200 is a great replacement for the 350/400 GWS...

RE: GWS E Starter-set up help

I've got a himax 2025-4200, CC25 and 3S TP's in mine. With APC 9X6 slowfly prop, it performs very well.

The numbers on my set-up are: 10amps, 26 oz thrust, 44mph prop speed, and 12 minutes...

RE: need help ordering first electric plane

You might want to look at the Himax 2015 or 2025 with metal gearbox here.HIMAX It a MUCH better solution than GWS plastic gearbox. I have both. The brushless motors are a bit much for the GWS...

RE: F3A Formosa ARF Park Flyer GWS

Thank you both for your comments.

I had read all the posts but missed that you have provided control throws. You really cut them down. Your post was:

Low Rate: 10mm up &...

RE: F3A Formosa ARF Park Flyer GWS

I spent about a week finishing my new Formosa with a Himax 2025-4200 and 3S li-poly. I was so confident that this would be an easy to fly plane, that I went ahead and did full paint and detail trim...

RE: All in one kit

I don't think that a package like that really exists. After looking, I decided that I needed to buy the components individually. A cost effective radio that will allow you to grow with the hobby is...

RE: Hand Launch Help

I don't think the hand launch is your problem. I do something similar to throwing a dart. Overhand, just slighty above level. Sounds to me like you just have some bad trim. Based on what you...

RE: GWS Slowstick HELP!

Since you have some experience and a good radio, I recommend that you get good equipment. I put Hitec servos and full-range reciever on mine. If you want Fataba, go with that. I also put a CC...

CC25 will it work first time?

I just ordered Himax 2025 4200 and CC25. This will be my first brushless. I've read so many posts about problems with CC25 that now I'm concerned that mine may not work. Who has received a CC25...

RE: slow stick prop choices versus flight performance

There's a lot of variables, how heavy your Slow Stick is, even the altitude of where you live. I live at sea level so what works for me may not work for someone who lives in a mountain area. I...

RE: slow stick prop choices versus flight performance

Generally the diameter, the first number, gives you thrust and the pitch, the second number gives you speed. So the 1047 will be give the least thrust and the least speed but will also pull the...

RE: How to determine if a brushed motor is bad?

Thanks for your answers. Among all of this is a pretty strong argument for going brushless. That's what I'm doing on my current build project. Now if the costs of brushless ESC would just come...

RE: How to determine if a brushed motor is bad?

The amp reading was at the battery side not direct at the motor; so reading is for both motor and ESC, but ESC should be minimal. I don't have a new motor to put into the D gear on the Slow Stick,...

RE: How to determine if a brushed motor is bad?

The 12A was a surprise to me too, but that is reading that I got static with full throttle. Motocalc estimates on the C gear set-up was 7.9A. I'm sure that mid-throttle flight is far less than 12A....

How to determine if a brushed motor is bad?

I've read many posts concerning the life of GWS brushed motors. They all seem to describe situations where the motor suddenly stops working. I see a lot of terms like ‘fried’, ‘toast’ and...

RE: Best web-based reseller?

Don't know who is best, but I have been very satisfied with multiple purchases from All E RC and Bishop Power Products. Both take PayPal.
