RE: 1/8a LaStick built, make that 1/4a.

I really wanted to fly some Cox engines but when I got into it I remembered all of the reasons I got out of glow in the first place. And I'm talking about the bigger glow engines which run so much...

RE: 1/8a LaStick built, make that 1/4a.

That is really funny because I did the exact same thing! I put on an E-Flite 250 and a 2 cell 480mAh pack. Did the same thing to my 1/2A SST. Took the TD off and put on a Himax outrunner with...

RE: A few build questions

Hey, that's great! I hope many of them stay interested in flying. They're the future of our hobby, both C/L and RC. My club, the Wausau R/C Sportsmen, does a lot to get kids interested in model...

RE: A few build questions

Finally got back to the Flite Streak. I added a little tail weight which puts the CG back another 1/2". It loops much easier there, I may go back a little further. I did my first loops with it...

RE: Carl Goldberg's 1/2A C/L's

I felt that way too.

Yeah, I miss these things as well. Not the same as the one I had in the late 60's. I am however modifying mine so it will have the ply firewall and blocking support....

RE: HERR AT-6 TEXAN To dihedral or not?????

And neither do you (with this one anyway), .061 isn't 1/2A!:D

Sorry couldn't resist! Nice model BTW!

RE: 1/2A SST Build Questions

It doesn't have to. Remember, there has to be a prop adapter added to it.

This motor was one I had lying around. Had it for years. Thrust line is 0-0.

RE: A few build questions

I did a precise check on my FS and the max travel I can get is 17 degrees. So I'm going to increase it to at least 20 and see how it flies. If not I'll shift the CG aft little by little.

RE: A few build questions

Well that's just it, as it is now it doesn't turn OK. It's capable of moderately steep climb and that's about it. I'll have to check exactly how much deflection I have but it appears to be around...

RE: A few build questions

Well duh, I should have thought of that!;) I've flown enough tail heavy RC to know that it makes them more responsive. But with most RC planes the elevator is so huge compared to C/L that a far...

RE: Too much engine?

It already has beam mounts.

So presumably when the old kit specified up to .099 they were talking about an anemic .099 engine. Similar to my big Flite Streak which is designed for .19 to .35,...

Too much engine?

I have an unbuilt Brodak Baby Flite Streak and was wondering if my Cox Medallion .09 would be too much power. The Brodak version is slightly larger than the original TF kit and it was designed for...

RE: Ducted Fan Jet CL?

I'm puzzled myself by that statement. Electric DF especially is state of the art these days.

I'm confused by this as well. Is the cost issue due to a problem with your RC gear? Because...

RE: 1/2A SST Build Questions

Here is how I mounted the motor:

I could add LG easily and that's probably what I'll do. It'll add a little weight and drag but it's probably the best option. This airplane doesn't need a...

RE: 1/2A SST Build Questions

Actually that's what I ended up with on mine. I flew it a few times with a TD .049 and wasn't happy with the performance or the hassles of getting the engine running right. I used a Himaxx...

RE: A few build questions

Thanks guys. I had a few more flights on Saturday and started dialing up the elevator throws. Haven't done anything but straight and level yet, elevator seems a little insensitive. I have the...

RE: A few build questions

Finally got around to flying my FS today! Went pretty well, didn't even get too dizzy. Well, at least not to the point of falling down! Put on 3 flights this morning using a stooge which worked...

RE: 2.4 gHz interference ?

Actually 2.4 Ghz is highly regulated. Everything that uses 2.4 Ghz has to employ collision avoidance. It has to monitor the frequency first to make sure there's nothing on that particular frequency...

RE: What paint to use

That's for sure. I used to use Krylon spray paint on my rockets and I loved it but a while back they changed the formula. I have used the new stuff and I haven't had any problems with it. But if...

RE: Zinger props any good?

Well, if there is a difference between the Zinger Pro 22-8 and the Vess 22B I was using I can't see it. I only put on one flight since it was pretty windy this morning but it seems to do just fine. ...

RE: 1st C/L flight in 40 yrs!

Last week I also had my first C/L flight since I was a kid. It was a Brodak P-51. I was dizzy as heck after the flights! Don't remember having a problem with dizziness when I was a kid. But that...

RE: Foam winged flying wing.

Great job on the wing Rich!

I have a Zagi XS that I just love. I fly it every time I go out. Didn't cost me much either, it was a raffle prize at a swap meet I went to a few years ago. AUW on...

RE: Zinger props any good?

I'll find out tomorrow how the Zinger Pro 22-8 performs. I picked it up the Zinger at the LHS today, it's the only prop they have in that size. It cost me slightly less than ordering a Vess or Xoar,...

RE: Zinger props any good?

Thanks guys for all the info. In my case I wouldn't care if the prop performed less than ideal since the DL-50 is more engine than I need for my airplane, a 1/3 scale Spacewalker. I typically fly...
