RE: Optic 6 Seperate Flaps Operation and S/W SEL

I'm not sure a V-mixer will work for the flaps, as it has 2 inputs and 2 outputs, but the Y-connector with reverser has 1 input and 2 outputs. The V-mixer takes the elevator and rudder signal and...

RE: Optic 6 Seperate Flaps Operation and S/W SEL

$3 is a good price, as I think I paid $10 for mine. Too bad you have to wait 2 weeks for it. But I wouldn't try to fly the Cularis without flaps, as it needs flaps to land in light to no wind,...

RE: Optic 6 Seperate Flaps Operation and S/W SEL

Hi Pat,

First of all, I decided to use a Y connector with reverser to control the flaps. The input connector of the Y-connector I've got connected to ch6 of the receiver, and each of the two...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

Haven't put mine together yet, Ed. I decided to make it a winter project, when I normally cut down on flying due to less than ideal flight conditions.

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

Thanks for the tip on Hubs, jooNorway. I'll have to look into it when I can't quite get a good prop match for a motor.

Thanks for the links to the stills, Dave. You got some amazing still shots...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

That's a good point about the effect of the length of the hub on the current draw, jooNorway! I've wondered about that before, but until now I haven't needed to use a large hub. I'm surprised my...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

Thanks Dave,

for the detailed report on the performance of your Cularis. It's very helpfull! The only big concern I have now is the 60+ oz I estimate my Cularis will weigh on completion, if...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

My power pack arrived. The Himax motor looks pretty solid. But I'm a little annoyed that the BL-37 ESC included is not LiPo battery friendly. This is odd, considering that they recommend a 3s...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

I noticed that tower hobbies plans to sell some of the items in the power pack individually , like the spinner and prop blades. So you could eventually get the spinner from them. I think it takes a...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

I wasn't happy about the weight of the Cularis either. At 60oz, and with a wing area of 852.5 in2, the wing loading is a little over 10oz/ft2. Would have liked it not over 9oz/ft2, to make...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

Also,

using the Himax 3522 0700 Outrunner with a 13x8 prop, MotoCalc gives a static thrust of 48oz at a current draw of 25A, for full throttle. That's a thrust to weight ratio of 0.8 to 1. So...

RE: large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

My Cularis power package is on back order so I haven't seen it yet. Could be weeks before I get it. Here is the setup that someone at HobbyHorse.com told me was in it:

Motor: Himax 3522 0700...

large folding prop spinner for Cularis?

Anyone know where one can get a folding prop spinner that's over 50mm diameter? The largest I've located are 50mm tops. The new Multiplex Cularis electric sailplane could use one around 54mm, I...

RE: Optic 6 Seperate Flaps Operation and S/W SEL

Also, the CROW function will allow you to mix in elevator when crow is activated by the SW-2 switch, in case the deployment of up ailerons and down flaps throws off the trim too much.

RE: Optic 6 Seperate Flaps Operation and S/W SEL

I think I figured out how to control flaps on my Optic 6!

First plug the left aileron into ch5 of the rx, with the right aileron in ch1.

Turn off the FLPN function. For programming...

RE: Optic 6 Seperate Flaps Operation and S/W SEL

I have an almost identical question, Mad Mad Max. I'm using the Optic 6 and just got my Multiplex Cularis motorized sailplane, which has separate flaps and ailerons. I'm trying to figure out how to...

RE: using Eclipse 7 with 5channel rx

I kind of thought so. It's a space issue as to why I don't go to a 6ch or 8ch dual conversion rx in the plane in particular. But I think Hitec has a small 6ch dual conversion rx that just might fit...

RE: Optic 6 problem with Spectra Module

Thanks for getting back to me, Mike. Last night I wiped the pins on the tx with some alcohol and dripped some on the contacts of the Spectra module. After it dried I did a radio check, and the...

using Eclipse 7 with 5channel rx

Hi Again Hitec Customer Service,

I have a Hitec 5 channel dual conversion rx in a motorized glider with just ailerons, and no flaps. To be able to use flaperons I need to plug the left...

Optic 6 problem with Spectra Module

Hi Hitec Service,

I've been having lots of intermittant noise suddenly getting into my receivers lately while using my new Optic 6 tx with the Spectra module. I tried different channels but...

RE: 3s LiPo as TX pack OK?

OK Mike,

Thanks for the warning. Maybe I could put something in the battery circuit to lower the voltage a bit.

RE: my new Optic 6 TX stopped transmitting!

For the record, I got my Optic 6 back from Hitec Service only 11 days after they received it. This was a lot faster than the weeks I was expecting to wait before getting it back. The note that...

3s LiPo as TX pack OK?

Can anyone see any problem in using a 3s 11.1V LiPo pack to power a Hitic transmitter? My new Hitec Eclipse 7 is a bit heavy to carry around for my bad back, and the 1800mAh NiMH TX pack I'm using...

If I had realized that it was ok to open it up, I definitely would have done so. Now that you just mentioned it, I'll have to keep that in mind next time. As I just came back from the UPS store...

RE: my new Optic 6 TX stopped transmitting!

Looks like you might be onto something, with the failure at high battery voltage after a fresh charge. By the way, I was afraid to open mine up, for fear of voiding the warentee. Do you happen to...
