RE: Glider Towing

I have had this happening too. The problem, like said before, is too much speed for the glider. This one just couldn't fly at at the speed of a powered plane. Single dehedral, 2m span, 1,5 Kg (quite...

RE: KJ66 - pre tension system for bearings

Hi Hank,

I like having a discussion like this!! Even though we may not (yet) agree, I appreciate your opinion and at least it makes me (and not just me) really think about these things.

RE: KJ66 - pre tension system for bearings

Hi Hank,

I want to thank you for explaning your theory.
However, I do not completely agree with it.
I do agree that the load on the front bearing is reduced, but in my opinion the rear...

RE: fd3/64 question for turbine builders

The KJ-66 plans I have show an NGV built from sheet and turned parts welded together. Looks like a lot of work to me, but it won't cost much. I also think it will be lighter. The turbine wheel is not...

RE: fd3/64 question for turbine builders

I only have the first edidion Kamps book, if I remember right he uses a similar turbinewheel as the fd3/64, basically a flat plate with bent blades. I don't know what the later editions use.

RE: KJ66 - pre tension system for bearings

Hank,

Thanks for your reply. But I am still curious; what exactly goes wrong with the rear pre-tension? What are your experiences?

Regards,
Eelco

RE: Any turbine builders out there?

Hi Kevin,

The reason Kamps (and everyone else) uses the lefthand threads is because it prevents the nuts from coming loose when the engine runs clockwise. Unless you can find a compressor wheel...

RE: KJ66 - pre tension system for bearings

OK, now I get it...

And you are right, the airspeed at that point is pretty high...I never realised this until i did a " quick and dirty" calculation based on a massflow of .22 kg/s, pressure...

RE: KJ66 - pre tension system for bearings

Thanks a lot everyone!! I knew I could count on you, but this is already more than I had hoped for!!

@Christian: What made you decide to make a steel shaft tunnel? The only reason I can think of...

KJ66 - pre tension system for bearings

Hi there!

I am facing a dilemma with the KJ-66 I am building: continue or start again from scratch with an improved design.

I attached an image so you can see which version of the drawings...

RE: MPX 4000 - sequenced gear & doors

Harry,

Thanks for taking the time to explain this.
You are right about my setup with the restrictors.

Last night, when I almost fell asleep, I suddenly realised how I could solve this...

RE: MPX 4000 - sequenced gear & doors

Thanks Harry!
I am sure this works fine if the gears don't move too slowly. However, there is one problem with this method: there is always a delay between the moment the doors are fully opened...

MPX 4000 - sequenced gear & doors

I am trying to program my MC 4000. I want the gear doors to open and close automatically when the landing gear is lowered or raised.
Both servo's are connected to the RX on different channels.
I...

RE: Schulze Alpha 8 FM Receivers

I bought one when I had some trouble with my old JR gear. It has a much better range than my standard JR and MPX receivers, totally no noticable glichtes any more. Also it rejects foreign signals...

RE: MC4000 heli mixing question.

I am not a heli pilot, nor a HarryC, but I DO have the 4000
(only since 4 days and nights I should add:D:D:D:D....)

As I understand it, the inputs of the standard mixers, even in universal...

RE: SERVOS JUMP??????

Hello Jim,

If your receiver is switched on but your transmitter is not, it will pick up any faint signal it recieves, like when you switch on the lights, or your coffee machine. Your servo's...

RE: Back up RX battery set up?

There is at least one more reason NOT to plug two batteries directly into one receiver.

Two (unconnected) batteries are never the same voltage. At the moment you connect them to each other,...

RE: Firing rockets from an RC jet?

Cool idea.
I once tried launching small firworks from a .25 little stick. Most of the times it would stay in the launch tube because the plane flew faster then the fireworks could. Only when...

RE: Help me decide if I need an instructor

If you can fly an overpowered plane like a quicky 500 without problems I would say you can FLY. Even after six years, flying a trainer in calm weather shouldn't be a problem. Just take it easy at...

Hi,

I don't have any theoretical knowlegde of winglets, but that hasn't stopped me from putting them on several airplanes, both gliders and speed/pattern planes.
I all cases it made the planes...

It's all about the balls...........

the "C" rating tells something about the clearence between the balls and the rings of the bearing. Not about external size, or if a bearing has a tight fit in the housing.
C1 means very little...
