use the flaps for takeoff and landings., CG is critical, don't expect it to FLOAT on landings., limit your control throws and use 30 to 40% expo.
Then it will fly nicely

Here's a picture of the spinners I made for my Robart P-38 with DA-50's. i plan to make one more set for static. the motors turn inboard to lessen the critical engine effect.

I like your twin kadet idea! But now add a 5 lb weight in the fuse to bring the wing loading to a 38. There will be a difference in the flight characteristics. Then you will sharpen your skills...
