RE: FPV for Search & Rescue mission

Your standard radio will already exceed your line of sight range.

But, if you are asking how to autonomously fly a plane via GPS beyond line of sight, you are treading on very dangerous ground....

RE: World's First Flying SPAD Jet

No videos of this fabled first spad jet?
Everyone knows you can't trust those Canadians. What, with their beady eyes and flapping heads!

At least we can call it the first American Spad Jet.

RE: 2012 SPAD Pylon racing schedule

Did you know that there is a SPAD designed as a .25 sized pylon racer?

Everything you need to know - as well as the build up to the SPADFest races last year can be found HERE...

RE: Aerial filming of Motocross - Chase em low

Sweet video! What camera are you using? Was that a home brew hexacopter?

RE: The Horror of Blimps

That truly is a great story. I read it when it was first written. Here's the original thread and original author:

RE: SPAD DPS 2 pylon course race 25th of Sept, Boise ID

That does look like a good time. We had SPAD pylon racing this past SPADFest. Only ran heats of 4, though.

It'd be a heck of a drive for you if you came this year. It's in Newton IA. People...

RE: 10,000 Free Flight Fire Balloons

Wow, that is quite a sight! I've seen the smaller chinese lanterns go up - unless something goes wrong, the fires been out a long time before it gets back to the ground.

RE: All the 2mm and 4mm coroplast you want. any color

It really depends on what kind of wing you are building. The most popular is the RNAF which has the top skin of the wing orientated with the flutes chrodwise and the bottom layer with the flutes...

Ahh the wingtip toss. You can see it done to perfection by an extremely talented - not to mention good looking - RC pilot if you click

RE: New & unusual

It's an interesting design, but doing something just cause it'd difficult to do is not really a good approach to aircraft design. Unless I'm missing something, I don't see any advantage to putting...

RE: Maloney gasoline Engine

If it's brand new, you might be able to get a collector to buy it. But, as an airplane engine, it's pretty much worthless. Low power, high weight, and unreliable.

Also, you'd probably get more...

RE: Flew my spad gnat today!

Maybe too little too late, but I've flown a Gnat. They are a blast - especially for SSC combat - when properly set up. Where did you have your CG? What kind of throws? I'm surprised yours wouldn't...

RE: Spadsticks

They look great. I vote we need video of a flyby too!

I do have a question though. Why did you glue the top wing skin to the top of the bottom wing skin at the LE?

RE: SPADfest10

I'm pretty sure there'll be at least 3 CL planes there. I'll have mine - though it's only flown once. Combat may be a lofty goal, though.

You realize you're answering a question that was asked 7 years ago?

If you want to advertise your funfly, there's no charge to start your own thread. :D

RE: RC elec Rockets

The torque of the motor would help with stability. The rocket would spin just like a rifle bullet.

You shouldn't need any servos or gyros for stability, as long as you have a tall enough guide...

RE: SCREAMIN' DEMON DOES 202 MPH!!!

We've been doing something similar every year at SPADfest. We have a speed competition with a kind of gentleman's agreement that no high dollar engines are entered.

I won the last one with a...

RE: Postal Plane Project

Yeah, this does really suck. When I signed up, I was hoping to get a chance to fly GRACE before it got too cold - last year. Now I'm wondering if I'll see her this year.

Hindsight being 20/20,...

I'd actually like to hear the fully story here. You've only sold two items in the MarketPlace, Flyathome. It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out what item you are talking about.

So, was...

RE: Postal Plane Project

I know things can get hectic, but I thought we were shooting for a week turnaround time. If everyone keeps her for 3 months, it's gonna be a long wait
