RE: Fun with Flat Foam

LT, I am somewhat new to electric also, but I think your ESC will cut off if the voltage/current from the battery drops below a preset minimum. I bought a cheap Apache (blue) Lipo from BalsaProducts...

Five0, I have been flying my UFO all weekend. I painted the bottom Yellow and then added a smiley face. All the kids go nuts when it flies over.
Yesterday I replaced a 2S LiPo with a 3S... MAN...

Finally got to fly the Zumi in calm conditions. After adding down trim, my bird flies stable and quick. Only problem I see is that it will snap...

RE: Fun with Flat Foam

No problem LT, I just finished flying it. I made the CG about 5" from the nose. Must have been close cause it flies great and even glides a bit at power off. I did not use any stiffeners and I did...

RE: Fun with Flat Foam

LT, I noticed you used skewers from the motor mount back to the fin. Did you do this for needed stiffness? Is it needed?
Also, you are using a brushed motor. I was going to use a brushless, but if...

RE: wing incidence of profile flat wing?

All the flat foamies I have built are at 0 incidence. And yes, slightly nose up to maintain level flight. But, most of these are 3D types and how much level flight do you really do? I am yanking on...

RE: Profile Build

Did you try to loop it? I have had a problem with nose heavy flying wings I have built lately. Roll rate good but would not loop at all and the glide ratio was non-existant. I moved the CG farther...

RE: Fun with Flat Foam

You may be right, it does look a bit small in relation to the size of the wing. I may mess with it again after I get my UFO built.

Pecan, keep up the good work on the Flipper plans, can't wait...

RE: One Tough FFF Delta...Build It!

I could not wait any longer to try the Zumi even though the winds were gusty and probably stonger than electric flight is recommended. But what the heck.

After a quick check out of control...

RE: Profile Build

RE: Fun with Flat Foam

Well I flew the Blue Stik yesterday in my cul-de-sac. Winds were gusty and sneaky. It took off nicely, (surprisingly) and flew ok. I might have it a bit nose heavy because on landing it did not glide...
