Actually in both cases I was not using a switch, and it did burn the pins off in the receiver on the Futaba after I opened the receiver to see if as you said it was in the wiring but I got 0 ohms on...

I sure agree that my old radios are far better quality than some new 2.4 I have a couple cheap 2.4s and the build quality is just not even close, worse thing is the gimbals don't have a good feel...
