RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

My SBach bit the dust last weekend.

The Fuselage and landing gear are the only things hurt but I doubt if I will spend the money to buy an replacement fuselage anytime soon.

I have a...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

pulsar110,

My PTE36 was tough to hand start at first.
I used a regular 12volt electric starter the first few starts.
After half dozen flights the compression improved and hand starting got a...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

MattK,

I won a MACS 4745 header in an auction. It is the 2.25" rise version.
If I can get it to fit the PTE36 I will consider running the engine on a tuned pipe.
I am still looking for...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

I have a VENUS 2 with a DLE20 that is getting broken in.

My plan was to put the 20cc quiet pipe on it.

The pipe is MACS 1090 and is actually for .80 to 1.20 glow so I doubt if it would be...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

So far I have about an hour and a half on the PTE36.

Compression is getting better and hand starting is easier.

Idle, throttle response and power are all great.

The engine seems to be...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

MattK

It sounds like you got a good one this time.

I did not clean up the reed box but I think I will go back and do that.

My first couple of tanks were on airplane fuel (gas) with...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

MattK

Based on my experience, you may want to locktite the choke plate screw and check the other engine screws to be sure all is tight.

Mine barely has enough compression to pop when you...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

I flew my SBach with the PTE36 today.

It started easily and ran great.

It seemed happy with the Xoar 19X8 but I kept it rich and did not push it too much.

I think it already turns the...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

gunny11,

Outside diameter is the same.

The walls of the stainless steel tubes are thinner than the stock tubes.

The stainless steel muffler looks like it will be tough.

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

I will check them tonight. From memory the stainless pipes seemed slightly bigger inside. I do not remember whether they looked bigger outside.

I did not try filling the mufflers with water...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

The habit of running engines dry came from having to replace bearings in the glow engines.

You are probably right that idling the gas engine dry is not accomplishing anything other than maybe...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

I often let an engine set for a month or more without running. I have had some problem in the past with gunk in the carb from evaporated gas.

For gas engines I empty the tank then start the...

Thanks for the response and thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.

The OS 33 initial prices after the Tower super saver discount is not that bad for a quality engine. My...

RE: Has anyone tried the new PTE36R ?

I have a PTE36 on the way. I have a XOAR 19X8 prop on hand and plan to use it for break in.
I hope to be able to unbolt the DLE30 from my SBach and bolt the PTE36 in its place.
Is there any...

RE: Spectra 2.4 Ghz Module compatible with Futaba Transmitters?

I have an Eclipse 7 that is only a few months old.

I bought it to replace an Eclipse 7 that is several years old.

I ran the older eclipse on a 3 cell lipo and did not have any trouble...

RE: U-Can-Do 3d 46?

I have a UCanDo46 that I flew with a Saito 100.

I have converted all of my 46 and smaller planes to Electric.

The UCanDo was last since I wanted to do it right.

If flys on a 5 cell...

RE: YS CLUB

I gave up on it.

I want nothing more to do with it.

I spent hours working on it plus the postage, waiting and aggrivation.

I saw that the new model went to an external regulator.

RE: Funtana X100

Move the battery and I am tail heavy.

The servos are on the heavy side which is part of it but the plane is just tail heavy even with normal servos.

RE: Funtana X100

Right now I am running a Saito 150 with a 17X6.

It needs that weight engine and the battery against the firewall to balance.

Wide open with the 17X6 is not super fast but it is not slow...

How well does the F100 handle speed?

Mine likes to go fast but I wonder about flutter.

RE: GMS 1.20 beats me

I use 10% fuel with 20% oil including 3% castor.

The GMS 120 is broken in well with several gallons of fuel burned.

The idle mixture is as lean as I can get it and get a reliable transition...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The 72 was used and I replaced the rod, bearings and backplate.

I was surprised that I could not find the piston ring for that...
