RE: Redesigned 28% Extra 300 Build / Questions

Tom- thanks, I'll try moving the cg forward a 1/4" and try again.

Silver- Approach speed is definitely not a problem with this bird and a 23-8 NX prop. :) I had it crawling along trying to...

RE: Redesigned 28% Extra 300 Build / Questions

Flew mine last night. All in all a pretty good first flight. With CG @ 3.5" and 20 degrees of elevator travel, 25% expo it was too pitch sensitive for normal flying. The manual says 12 degrees is...

RE: Redesigned 28% Extra 300 Build / Questions

Adding toe-in, that's a good idea. I know what you are saying about rolling the plane around and it squatting down on the gear. I have some Graphtech gear that is about 3oz lighter but the stance...

RE: Redesigned 28% Extra 300 Build / Questions

I finally got my "new" 300 done yesterday. (I've had the dang thing for months) I used everything from my dead LX. DA50 w/Slimline pitts, Hitec QPCM rx, 5945's, 5955TG on rudder, AirWild control...

RE: What Hitec servo for MX400 Pro?

Thanks everyone for the input. I hope I did not offend by saying the HS55's wouldn't be smart. I thought with their plastic gears they wouldn't work so well... it sounds like they could, but I have...

What Hitec servo for MX400 Pro?

I guess the subject line say it all. Which ones? HS65HB (karbonite) or HS65MG? The HS55 meets spec but I don't think those would be very smart, and the HS81's won't fit.

2nd Q while I'm at...

RE: Redesigned 28% Extra 300 Build / Questions

I missed the part where the x-bracing was cut out I guess... thought something was different about mine where the bracing on the canopy hatch and fuse did not match. My bad! Reading comprehension...

RE: Redesigned 28% Extra 300 Build / Questions

What's with the fuse/canopy x-bracing on my plane? I thought it was just the design until I saw the new 300 featured in this thread. It's not a huge deal but it does look a little goofy? Mine is...

RE: Newly redesigned WH Extra build thread

I got my new 300 the other day, looks like I can use all the carbon tubes and gear from my 300LX and my RC Blimp Ti tailwheel, savings will be ~9oz.

RE: CF Landing Gear Recommendation/Opinions

The Graphtech gear that was on my 300LX held up perfectly, plenty of less-than-perfect landings and even a crash that destroyed the plane! They look as good as the day I received them from TBM.

RE: Newly redesigned WH Extra build thread

I plan on building mine with a canister muffler, I think both the stock DA muffler and pitts are too loud. (for my tastes) Do you sell cans Tom? If so I will call you and "upgrade" my order. ...

RE: New Extra 300

Great to know the tubes will swap. My gear is a bit smaller but might work. I've read a lot of complaints about the Graphtech but mine has held up perfectly.

Guess I'll call Monday and see if...

RE: New Extra 300

Q about the new 300:

- Can I use the carbon wing tube, (1.25" x 36" ) stab tube (.5" x17.25" ) and Graphtech landing gear from my (recently departed) 300LX?

I realize I will probably have...

RE: PRECISION AEROBATICS EDGE540T

Mine is at 15lb 3oz. It has carbon gear, (heavier than stock) and an extra li-ion in the nose for balance reasons, so that's why it's a bit of a porker. My elevator servos travel almost exactly the...

RE: PRECISION AEROBATICS EDGE540T

I just maidened mine today, put 5 flights on it. Previously I had a WH Extra 300LX that died an ugly and stupid death, I have the PA Edge as a "stopgap" plane to get me thru the rest of the summer. ...

RE: Dead Bunny

I thumb my nose in DA's general direction. ;)

As far as what happened, well, it was around 90% brain failure and 10% equipment failure. I should have been able to fly out of it but had a...

RE: Dead Bunny

Yep, I will be sending the rx in for a checkup. I worked on the engine today, and here is what I found. (pic) That came in thru the exhaust. Otherwise everything else is ok inside, crank is...

RE: Dead Bunny

It sucks but it isn't the end of the world. It's been a while since I planted one, I had hoped to get a little more than 10 gallons run thru this one however! I forgot that WH has a new Extra...

Dead Bunny

My 300LX tried to dig a nest in the ground this evening. [&o] The fuse is trash but everything else is pretty much OK with the exception of the right wing, which has a pretty good ding in the front...

RE: 28% Extra Special 300

Those are the standoffs provided by DA, they need to be about 1/4" longer, I used nylon washers to shim the engine out a bit. I have my throttle servo mounted in the left side of the fuselage in the...

RE: 300LX: Best Tailwheel assy?

Will do. I'll also be fitting a new set of blingtastic 4" chrome Kavan wheels, my 3.5" Dubros have caught a hole or two on landings... one time it flipped right over. No damage, the WH is a pretty...

RE: 300LX: Best Tailwheel assy?

Thanks guys, I bought a RC Blimp Ti from TBM, needed something pretty stout to handle my rough field.
