RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I got my 35% SD when they cost $700, now they are $625!!! I'm still happy though, they are a "sleeper", should be the best seller out ther IMO. Maybe the IMAC & TOC guys dont like them but they are...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

See the Beast from H9 yet? 100cc will do it. Working on Double Vision #2, best 30% 3-D bipe I've ever had. Chief has 35% TTOC Yak for $899, tempting!

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I think it was TBM that appears to have almost no TTOC's left, mostly accessories. Chief still has some TTOC inventory, but with Pilot selling too, I wonder how long TTOC will last?
My first prop...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Been flying my 33% TTOC Yak 54 since this summer, I'm over the weight issue(24lbs), it flys so good it doesnt matter much. Finally got the right prop and engine tuned to perfection. Vess 26B(cut down...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I played with the needles a bit more yesterday, turned in the high end a bit and the low too, its still about the same, maybe it does go from ilde to full a little quicker now, but thats not the...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I got my only 3W used and I only have about 30 flights on it, I've tuned the low end in a bit(started over at factory settings)and got it running pretty good with 24X12 Xoar, still it doesnt rev up...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Its strange to me, after reading up on the tilotson carb, I thought maybe 3W engines would be better than DA w/ Walbro as far as transition anyway, but I like my DA's super clean and immediate...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Have 30 flights on my 33% TTOC Yak now, very nice plane, I like the difference with extra weight & size(have been flying 30%), although mine is 24lbs, pretty far off from the 19.5 in the ad. The 3W80...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I added another 3/32 ply, wasnt comfortable with less than 1/4". The 3W80i went in fine, the Pitts muffler wasnt a problem for the fire wall, just a little stuck out the cowl, not bad at all. I put...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

What muffler did you use?? I have a warap-around pitts, wonder if it will fit without major hacking? What length extensions did you go with, I figure I'll need at least 18" on the outboard aileron...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Anyone mount 3W80 w/ wrap around pitts muffler in this bird? I'm getting ready to glue firewall, wonder if any doubling & standoffs needed. The firewall looks less than 1/4" thick.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I know what you mean, I had moved from 8X10 shed into one side of my garage, now had to move my workshop out of garage and into 22X14 barn to have room for my new 33% & others. Bad part is, I'm still...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I didnt think baffleing was necessary on TTOC Yaks, my 30% has the front opening so much closed off that I didnt do anything, runs real cool too.(under 200) Thats whats unique and actually makes this...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I got mine a week ago, Team Scheme, looks better than the pictures, just perfect paint & covering, now I have to sell a bunch of glow radios & engines to afford the flight gear. Not the best time to...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

How much of a difference is there going from 30% to 33% SD Yak? Looking at weight & wing span, it doesnt seem like it would feel much bigger. I hope its worth the extra $$, I may never be able to...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Thanks for the reply on 3W80, I will keep the mounting in mind. As far as "flipping" over w/ a lot of rudder, my Double Vision and 50cc Yak both do that when in slow HA KE, I now take the rudder...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Anyone have experience w/ 3W80I?? I can get one thats just broken in for a pretty good price. I want it for this Yak, I guess if it comes in 22lb or less it should be great combo, even pull-out s.b....

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

If I get this, I'll go with a single JR8711 on rudder, I think I can get a used 3W80I for around $300, I've seen it haul a 33% Extra around that weighs in around 26lbs, so this plane would be a...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Several questions, would 3-W 80 be enough for decent pull-out? Would 1 5955TG in the center section of each aileron be enough?? I would make the servo bay & beef up ribs to do this. And finally, how...
