Joystick, if I remember correctly, you one of the original supporters of the Syssa engine.

The DLE 30 that I bought to replace the Syssa after just a few months is still going very strong with all...

Resistor is 1K, carbon composition type. Not a wound film resistor as is most common these days. I'd just buy a new cap but keep the old parts if you ever need them. You can buy the silicone...

Your ignition problem sounds like it may be just a bad plug cap. The silicone insulator inside the cap tends to break down over time and especially if the cap ever makes contact with the ground. The...

Joystick and Earlwb, I guess my reference to FOX had more to do with some of his screwball designs that required updates and improvements before they ever ran well and his hard headed nature. Like...

Some small phone systems only have a limited amount of voice storage time. I sense Syssa has one of these systems. It could just be a matter of programming though as storage time can be limited on...

Nothing has changed much from the early days of Syssa engines. One could read all the pages of this thread and see the same things repeated over and over again. Oh yes, there were some good times...

Any change that would hold the Syssa improvised choke plate firmly closed would be an improvement. When I had a Syssa, I changed the carb out for one that had a real choke plate ... problem solved.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

Mike, it that is the engine you got from me, those were just plain flat washers on the muffler when delivered. Not Nord Locks. I would have tried them if I had some. That engine was new before they...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

I owned a Syssa and for my style of tuning and flying, I couldn't get use to the carb with the accelerator pump! I had numerous flameouts because the low end was set overly lean because I set the low...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

My Syssa will be going up for sale in the near future. Great beautiful engine but the DLE30 fit my application better. Anyone interested can PM me or wait for my ad when I get time to post it.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

Don't know if would work for your application but some guys just use silicone heater hose for couplers between their header pipes and can type mufflers or pipes on gassers. Might be worth looking...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

Congratulations, you have just discovered the difference between an oil that is combustible and one that just passes throught the engine. That is exactly why more (combustible) oil means more power...

Probably a bad choice of words on my part ..... should have said uneventful. Was a darn nice landing in that first video. I guess I was feeling a bit cranky yesterday after getting even more snow...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

We should start a 30 class engine comparison thread then open discussion would be OK, though probably heated at times.

I poke fun at the Syssa and other engine problems but still believe the...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

Hey Ralph,

Hope this is on topic. Somewhere on here I offered to send you my Syssa for testing alongside those other engines. You're welcome to it but of course if the keyway breaks, you'll...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

I would think a bit of brand comparison would be reasonable and expected. Out and out discussion of other brand engines would be off topic. But then, I could be wrong.

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

I agree, doesn't sound fair at first glance. But facts remain, the DLE, MT and Syssa are all relatively new engine designs and all have shown to have a few bugs, problems or issues ... whatever...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

Couldn't agree more. The last engine I had that was not really user repairable (with necessary tools and experience) was a 1969 K&B 40 where the whole crank and bearing assembly was pressed together...

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

RE: SYSSA 30CC GAS MADE IN USA

What is your engine's s/n?

I hope this key issue doesn't become commonplace as all the engines get out flying after the great ice age (nasty winter) passes. I know I have not done anything but...
