The oficial website lists the participants and the frequencies. I noticed that Quique is using spread spectrum and may be others as well but the majority is using 72 or 35 Mhz.

The first R/C airplane was built and used by the American Navy during WWI one of those airplanes can be seen in the US Airforce Museum in Wright Paterson AFB.
