RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Part of why/how this plane flys so well is its light wingloading. Adding dead weight just to see smoke coming out would make the plane less fun to fly. Tune your Saito a little rich, you'll have...

What's your problem? They accidentally sent you the wrong gear. Possibly a communication error? Contact them and arrange for a replacement. Remember, they're a very small company and may not...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Have either of you been out of the country recently? There are some strange "bugs" out there which might go undiagnosed by small(er)-town GP doctors.

Good luck to you both.

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Those are good tips, no doubt. A few more include:

The muffler bearings - these are prone to failure, as well.
Oh, and the water pump thrust washers, definitely.
You might check the...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Did you tune it using a tachometer? They're just about impossible to tune "by ear." I have several of these engines and they are the most trouble-free internal combustion engine I've owned except...

APC 15x4 Yea, Baby!

Don't need no stinkin' header tank.

The plane is super-light (in terms of wingloading). Don't be afraid to add some lead to the tail. (I can't believe I just wrote...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Sounds like you are on the road to success.

BTW, Unlike most modelers, I think 4S engines are much easier to tune (assuming you use a tach) than 2S engines. And the 4S engines are soooo...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

My understanding is that the receivers are sensitive to voltage dips. Jets use a lot of juice (current) and if his power distribution wasn't adequate, he might have browned-out his rx. It takes a...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Joey, Mine has mad 3D with a S-91. The 100 is a long motor and I doubt it will fit w/o significant firewall recession. This plane has lot's of wing area...it flys very "light" because of that. ...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

1) nope.

2) yup.

If you were going to own this plane forever, I'd say to buy the .91.

However, the .82 has lots more applications (in the 48" wingspan class of planes) where the...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Which 91? My Saito 91 in this plane is just perfect, IMHO.

The wing has lots of squares, so even with the heaviest motor you could physically stuff into the cowl the plane would still fly...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

Mine has a Saito 91. I really like this plane. You will need to add a good bit of ballast to the tail to get it to fly well. Good luck!!!

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

There is a misprint in the construction manual. In one place in the manual it says that the measurement from spinner backplate to firewall is 4-5/16 inches, when it is actualy 4-15/16. This fact has...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

The mount is a generic mount with an integrated nose-wheel mount. The mount is very thick and doesn't allow you to move the engine aft far enough without cutting a piece off of the mount. I was too...

RE: Great Planes Reactor GP/EP 3D ARF .46-.70

KM,

My recollection (which may not be correct) is that the 100 is a little bit longer than the .91. My .91 fit using the stock (B.S.) engine mount. I had to modify the mount a bit, but it...
