The V2 version I saw a couple years ago had twice the cooling area (twice the number of fins). Since lack of heat dissipation is the killer of performance in these small gassies, I'd hazard a guess...

Yup, those mounting bosses on the crankcase blanks are used to fixture the crankcases during machining. Todd removes them for lightness but they are definitely strong enough to hold the engine with....

Geez Beej.... why run a pipe on a toothpick prop? The piped SAP will turn an 18.1x10 apc pattern prop just great and be very quiet. I'd suggest to lose the toothpick and put a real prop on that engine

Did you look in the McMaster Carr website? If you do go to it, buy the M5 Nordlox, M5 bolts and the Ultra Copper sealant. McMaster Carr ships immediately and you will get your parts often...

That's quite low. You should be getting about 2K more rpm. You may be too rich (or too lean if the thing is sagging). Simple way to tell if you don't know what it sounds like, look at the spark plug...
