Thanks, I'll check there. I've been looking in hardware stores.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I don't know. I would like to try that if I could ever find some of that stuff.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Yes, in the same manner as the rest of the plane and engine, wiping with a rag or a paper towel and glass cleaner, but no serious attempt to remove the discoloration since I figured it would just...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks. I clean it a lot, pretty much after every day of flying or whenever I see a speck or two of dirt on it. :) Yep, about 130 or so flights on it.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Oh well, it was just a thought since it almost confused me, but that's not hard to do sometimes. [&:]

I wonder what the effects of the high exhaust temps could be other than the one obvious one...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Exactly. It's the first line that could lead to some confusion at first read where it says in the new manual "Use of fuels composed entirely of castor is not recommended." Same meaning in the old...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The confusion about castor may be due to the wording in the manual. My 2005 manual says:

Use of fuels composed
entirely of castor oil is not recommended.
A mix of synthetic-castor oil is...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I don't do a lot of 3D. Mostly hovering. I haven't learned too many of the other tricks yet. The .82 with a MAS 14x6 prop will hover my 4-3/4 lb. plane at about half throttle, but of course more...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hmmm... Mine must not be adjusted properly yet. To avoid dead-sticking I usually land after 8 or 9 minutes of mostly half throttle or less flying, with a few excursions into higher throttle levels...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I found that out with my .82 replacing a .46. The stock mount on my Funstar was too short for the .82 so I got the Hangar 9 40 size clamp-style metal mount that's just a bit longer and it fit...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks Bill. I've been starting at idle. I'll have to try bumping it up a bit.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

That's what I tried and what I do with the 2-strokes with one exception: the high idle. I'll have to try that. Thanks.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

On the subject of running backwards, my .82 has always tended to do this. I have been a flip starter with all my 2-strokes, never using an electric starter. They would sometimes start backwards if...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks Bill. "idles a lot smoother, and burns less fuel, with no decrease in power" is just what I'm looking for. :)

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've been thinking about adjusting my low-speed needle on my .82 leaner since I've got a lot of flying time on it now and would like to see if I can improve the idle and transition. Also, most of my...

Yes, that is confusing. I wish Horizon would put more details on their web site about the products, but like you said I know I can just call them to find out. I've done that before and it was...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

That fuel filter looks sweet!

Thanks for the detailed info. Looks like the intake stack is out of stock until Nov. The intake stack's Alpha codes indicate it is for several models from the 45S...

That's cool. Is there a benefit other than looks to having a black cylinder? Also, I noticed the stack on the carb in your last picture. The GK .82 had one of those too. Do they make any...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Still looks good after about 35 flights. I could have had the Golden Knight version for the same price and debated which way to go. Decided I liked the shiny silver look better. Now I think the GK...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Here's my first 4-stroke, an .82 in all its glory before the cowl went on. Awesome engine. Wish the muffler still looked like that. The first time the exhaust pipe came loose, the castor turned it...
