RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

F1, ask all the questions you want to, I"ll try to help. The prop clearance with the 3 blade 24/12 is: taxi attitude 6", tail up for takeoff 4.25". I ran a 26/10 for the 1st 10 flights for break-in...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

F1, the BME 110 is in fact a reality! I have about 50 flights on it now and it is awesome!! AUW is 22.75 lbs, balances on the wing tube, Mejzlik 24/12 3 blade, Pete's CF 4" spinner, 32 oz Dubro tank...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

I have a BME 110 on mine with 20 flights on it now. IMO it is the perfect engine for this plane...throttle management is a must! It fits the cowl perfectly with only the exhaust stacks showing and is...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

John, I did get the wing tube a week ago. Put 7 flights on it since then...it flies great even in 20 MPH gusty winds.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

John, the spinner is not in the center. The top measures 1 1/2" to where the cowl just starts to roll in, the bottom is 1". You don't even notice it unless you look at it from almost head on. But...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

John, my engine is exactly on the center of the wing. When I drilled the engine mounting holes, I aligned a straight edge with the bottom of the blue stripe that runs through the center of the wing...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

John, my engine is not in the center...it is 1/4" right and 1/4" down. That is where Lee Lamury from AM said to put it when he was writing the manual. 1/4" down is in line with the center of drag.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

RV, the balance right now is about 6 3/4 inches from the leading edge (front of wing tube) because of the heavier aluminum spinner. On the 1st flight 2 weeks ago it balanced near the back of the wing...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Did the 2nd maiden flight today. Actually flew 3 times, about 15 minutes for 2 flights and about 3 minutes for the last that ended in a dead stick because of a hole in the fuel tank from the 1st...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

John, I did mine just the way you have yours pictured. I did notch out the tri-stock in front of the motor box. I also added a piece of 3/8" ply to the back side of the motor box for more support of...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Aviation, I talked to Keith at BME. He said that if there is enough of an outlet at the bottom of the cowl I shouldn't need any baffling. I just came back from the JR Challenge in Punta Gorda FL and...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Guys, I just weighed my plane w/BME 110...AUW is 22.75 lbs. That weight is without wheel pants and with CF spinner & CF 3 blade prop. The BME is 1.25 lbs lighter than my ZDZ 80 RV (both w/muffler &...

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

erjpilot, it is from (http://litepilots.com/). Look under 33-35% male for "Jon". Listed weight is 5 oz but I cut mine down quite a bit...I would say it is probably around 2.5-3 oz now.

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

RE: Aviation Models 33% Yak Build Thread

Thanks FreedomFlyer. I think it will be a great combo. I have a QQ 85" Yak with a ZDZ 80 RV that's 18 lbs also. When I got the 33% I took the 80 out of the QQ and put in my BME 50...only flew it 3...
