RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I fly the range of 28-33% planes with no problems.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

The CF push rods are a good way to go. I use them on most all my rudder, elevator and sometimes aileron control surfaces. After tons of 3D flying they have yet to give. I too am somewhat lazy though...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

It has to do with the cost of glow vs. gas. Ill give glow the advantage of being able to stay in my car and not smell. So maybe a little better for just go and fly days.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

The ZDZ 40 is a great motor, but it has its limitations. It flies a light, and I mean really light 28%. You might be looking at half to full throttle most of the flight on that motor. Its possible to...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Yup the VP 30 is the way to go. The VP 20 works off ocillatoin or the vibration of the engine itself. I think the VP 30 is the most bullet proof way to go. On smaller engines I have gotten away just...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I use Curtis Youngblood mix 30% nitro and 23% castor. YS and Saito recommend like 20% minimum on both Nitro and Oil content I think. I never liked Cool Power or Morgan Fuel for lack of oil, or less...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Cant hurt to try. If anything you can always revert to a glow engine.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

What is the bare weight of the plane? The reason I say that is some planes around 1000-1100 square inches of wing area do just fine with a gas engine. For example - Cap X, Ultra Rc Giles. So long as...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

That size engine would do well, and probably also 3D. Just keep it as light as possibe like you said. Go with Lipos / Lions, light weight wheels, CF everywhere and get rid of wood you dont need. If...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I had a Yellow Aircraft 1.20 size Edge 540 and it needed mixing in knife edge flight. I think most planes along the lines of the Edge or Extra need just a little. Step up and get the 33% Extra 260...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Tom,

I must say that 1.20 size Edge is just sharp. I am missing my quarter scale edge so I might have to order one up. Uncle Sam only pays me for another month so I need to make my next batch...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

I would really like to see that plane with either a Roto 25/35, RCS 1.40/ 1.80, or even an MVVS gas engine. I think it has more than enough squares to handle it.

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Either the HS635MG's or the digital version the HS625MG will be fine. Should you choose to go with lithiums, you could get away with one 2800mah pack from Troy Built www.troybuiltmodels.com with a 6V...

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Tom,

If I cant sell my smaller edge I have a light weight Roto 25 that would be fine in a plane weighing around 11lbs or lighter all up. Plus yours has more wing area then the Yellow Aircraft....

RE: 1.20 Edge Review, the beginnings

Tom,

You say you need an OS 1.60?? Hrmm, perhaps we can arrange a trade :) I will let you know. How well would this Edge fly with a 100 two stroke? I had one in a Funtana 90 I have since sold....
