RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

Thanks ENT. I should have been more specific. Has anyone in the U.S. received replacement stabs for the F-20 or a new F-20 airframe?

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

rcand, I'm not sure what you meant in the above statement, but no one knew that the stabs needed to be modified until contributors to this thread turned up the evidence of severely deficient design...

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

I hadn't thought about it that way, but you are right - would put them right out of business if they had to suffer the losses that they now pass on to their customers.

Hi All,

If all factories are required to do all the testings, then the cost of an ARF will be prohibitive.

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

There are also some who want to know what will be done about the smoking pile of wreckage caused by stab flutter. This is taking far too long.

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

Another resource for flying stab servo sizing is this document, pages 3 and 4. http://www.modelaircraft.org/files/520-a.pdf

There is also a discussion about the importance of keeping the pivot...

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

I don't see anything "subjective" about a stab system that is clearly improperly designed.

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

It has been stated before in this thread, but worth stating again: Rob had his P120 at mid throttle, straight and level flight, flight #2. Airspeed was not much over 100 mph. Flutter and...

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

Mr. Zicheng has absolutely no understanding of how to properly design and setup a flying stab. Scary.

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

Jeremy, you might consider having your buddies look at the servo/linkage setup as well. The pivot location may not be the only problem with the stab system. Although I have no personal experience...

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

I also checked. The pivot is at 30.7% of MAC. The neutral point for a symmetrical foil is at 25%. The pivot point should be a few percent less than 25% to ensure stability. The stabs are inherently...

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

Rob, that really sux, big time. I'm PO'd and it wasn't even my jet.

Tom Perry, Joel Patrick, and I observed the flutter and subsequent destruction of the airframe. We are all experienced and...

RE: Jet Legend Buyers Beware

The entire stab system needs to be evaluated by someone who knows how to design a jet. Not just the structure of the stab, but also (1) the neutral point of the stab in relation to the pivot axis and...
