RE: V12 500Hp diesel aero engine-video

with conventional piston and even turbine aircraft engines we pre heat them at temps anywhere around or below zero anyway. i bet this thing would start easier than a cold soaked lycoming.

RE: Saito

RE: how does steerable nose wheel affect aerodynamics?

you have a nice sounding setup for an experiment. set up a mix to turn off your rudder and have the nosewheel remain active, see how it goes. a few mistakes hig of course

RE: wing loading

might not have the same vertical performance, but if you get the float angles tuned in it should go, just dont force it off the water, itll go when its ready. once in the air floats make enough lift...

RE: 8' Otter scratch build

I did the 6'. fly's decently enough, but its kind of a pile of **** lol. its not a very scale cross section for the fuse and some of the material choices aren't really adequite, like balsa spars.. if...

RE: Spiral slip Stream is it real ?

on thing a stator does is trade air velocity for pressure using divergent ducts. a side effect of slowing the flow of a fluid in a smooth section is a drastic reduction in turbulence, which would...

RE: Spiral slip Stream is it real ?

You are correct with the example of the gyro. The same thing happens with floats as you come on step as well. Ive flown a certain 172 that really needed a ventral fin, you needed full rudder just to...

RE: Slab vs Tapered Elevator

when those zodiaks where new i bet the flutter wasn't much of a problem, but as it got older and the controls get a little worn theres some room for them to flutter given the right bump. In my...

RE: Spiral slip Stream is it real ?

The spiral is in fact real. full scale, as well as scale aircraft use thrust angles as well as crooked verticle stabalizers to trim it's effects out. as was mentioned about residue on the aircrafts,...

RE: Show us your Beaver!

nice machine sir. I notice your pic of the takeoff, your dragging the heals real hard and "pulling it off". with the flaps out like you have, try just enough back pressure to keep it from digging but...

RE: 6' Beaver build

2 blade beavers are hotter than 3 bladers! louder, but the old couterweight or hydromatic props have some serious class. plus they pull a little harder! lookin really really good sir! love the float...

its common practice in the full scale world to glue down the plug leads, and other undercowl wires and cables, with a good high temp silicone. right onto cylinder fins or whatever. does a pretty good...

RE: Tigermoth on Floats with NO rudder

i have a golberg cub, and a 6' beaver. life was, and would be impossible without water rudders. also step taxiing is a little risky. when i see most guys doing it they aren't truely on the step like...

if flaperon is all it takes you got it made, especially the higher performing aircraft on floats, lifters like the beaver and the otter, and rockets like caravan, beech 18, even 185's, all need the...
