Dave, you got me on this one. I can honestly say that I no longer fear the dreaded dead stick on this engine. As a matter of fact I managed to get my very first 30+sec hover on a WM SS60 yesterday....

Dave, its in the open, however the muffler is off of a Magnum which upped my RPM a whole 1k turning a 14X6.

I tried it in a cawl for a bit once but made changes by swapping out engines.

Flyboy Dave, to answer you question concerning the muffler. The Mag is a bit larger in diam, I never thought about removing the spacer on the OS.

Its not just the air bubbles that is causing this. I have no air bubbles and I am still having the leaning out problem. Mine is due to poor pressure. Things I have done before sending back to OS.

Well had mine running OK on a stick with a Mag Muffler but once I strapped it in my cowled shoestring, with a pitts muffler, it went back to its old ways, 10 mins into flight with a nice smoke trail...
