RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Just saw that Tower has the 40 kits again - VERY cool!! I have an unbuilt 60 kit, thinking I probably need an unbuilt 40 kit! HOping to build the 60 over this upcoming spring/summer. Will be doing...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

This is what I did - balances nicely now.

Question for others, how much KE coupling are you guys having? Mine wants to roll to the direction of rudder and pulls to the bottom. I can just fly...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I agree, if you have the .61, throw it in and go fly. If you want more, then you can always get more with the 75. I have a US .40, started with a TT .40 Pro, it flew it well, but would lose a lot...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Just to add my experience, yes it really can be a floater, but in my experience CG plays a big role in that, at least on US .40. I started out with the CG in the middle of the recommended range, and...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Yup. I balanced mine at the recommended CG and it would not slow down and landed like a rocket. Moved it back 3/8" and landing is golden now. I can't imagine it with flaps.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

That's like asking someone what is so great about chocolate. I could go on and on about how great chocolate is, but until you try it, you'll never fully understand.

Do yourself a favor and...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Yeah, shift cg back. Mine did the exact same thing, I shifted it back 1/4" and haven't looked back. It went from landing hot to landing like a trainer.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Just a heads up, everyone is going to tell you to put a 2-stroke on, maybe a OS .75.

I agree - I can't imagine anything but a high pitched scream as you do a low high-speed fly by in a Ultra...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

While that twin is cool, to me it looks more like a Cessna of some sort and less of a US. Just doesn't seem right to me - love that "normal" US look!

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I was, too. But if you read those instances carefully, the vast majority were human error. Charging too fast, setting to wrong battery type, wrong number of cells, etc. You do have to be careful...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

I'd be worried about ground clearance with the 12" prop, fly off of a grass runway that's not the nicest or smoothest grass. But I ordered several different sizes from tower of MA and APC props, so...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

So Tower was having one of their $25 off of $150 and free shipping, so I ordered an OS .55AX for my US .40! :D

Currently it has TT .40 pro. It flies it nicely and plenty quick, but tends to...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Yeah, I think so. They still have the .60 kit so I went ahead and picked one up to save on to.

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Well I went ahead and ordered a .60 kit from Tower (Omni models actually b/c of free shipping). Won't be building it for a long time, but since the .40 is discontinued, wanted to go ahead and grab...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Oh yeah just a question. I see the US .40 is discontinued on Tower. Anyone know the plans with the US .60?

I'm itching to build another someday and was going to do another 40, but might just...

RE: *** Ultra Sport Brotherhood ***

Count me in! Not sure what number we're on though.

I built my Ultra Sport .40 last summer for my 2nd plane after my trainer after a 10 year hiatus from the hobby. It was my first kit build...
