Not really. They make a bigger difference when racing and running higher currents. They have lower resistance so they maximize the power. They are also much less likely to fail.

So from what you guys are saying, the Duratrax ESC doesn't have proportional brakes. That is a must for racing...a must period, IMHO. Like I mentioned earlier, you should look at the RadioShack...

Hesitate??? That sounds like you are confusing brakes with reverse. In an ESC with true brakes, brakes are applied instantly and in proportion to how far you reverse the throttle. Some, less smart...

HUH?....I thought I read a review where they said the stock ESC had no brakes. It doesn't mention them on the Tower Hobbies description of the ESC either. The old Traxxas ESCs didn't have brakes. ...

If I was replacing the MQuakes ESC I'd look for one with brakes. In comparison the RadioShack Propulse ESC handles 80amps (vs. 50) and has brakes.

Expensive...but not if you compare it to what brushless used to cost just a few years ago....especially for the larger scale cars. I recall people putting $1000 dollars into their brushless systems!...

By the way, I thought all Mambas had permanent 2 pole Neo magnets.

When you compare it to a GH you are comparing a 5,200kv 35amp motor...
