RE: Nuance

Hi Jim,

If you don't already have a the Nuance, you can get it pre configured for a contra from the factory.

RE: Nuance

My experience has been pretty similar to Tony's but I use the standard drive on mine. My issue with the yaw stability is a bit different. I noticed that it consistently wanted to yaw to the right...

RE: Nuance

The horizontal stab is much higher on the Episode than on the Nuance. So, I'm not sure how it will work out if you stick the canalizer on the Nuance. I may try taking it off of the Episode just for...

RE: Nuance

I asked B.J. about the DTFS setup on the Nuance. Here are his thoughts on it:

- The DTFS wing was designed with the FAI class flier in mind and is not optimized for the standard AMA classes
-...

RE: Nuance

Tony is correct,

Here's a side by side pic of the wings.

The wing labeled "429" is the DTFS wing.

RE: Nuance

You know, after looking at the pics I think the wings are in the same spot. What do you think?

RE: Nuance

Possibly,

It didn't feel tail heavy in the air (inverted 45's had the normal amount of down elev required), but I did move the CG forward a bit and it helped.

How far forward is your tube?

RE: Nuance

I had a chance to fly my DTFS wings on my Nuance. This is the stock Nuance that I have been flying and the only change I made was to install the DTFS wings. They mated right up to the Nuance with...

RE: Nuance

I fitted the DTFS wings to the Nuance. They mated up perfectly. I'll post some side by side impressions when I get a chance to fly it. I'll fly it without putting any stab fences etc. I don't...

RE: Nuance

I think the airfoil on the Prolog is also different than the Nuance. BJ designed the Prolog to help bridge the gap for accomplished fliers coming into pattern. He feels that someone coming over to...

RE: Nuance

Hey Dale,
Good Choice!
Check out my post on the Episode thread for the Pletty Advance. I think it's post #122. It's pretty simple, just a disk with a slightly elongated base.

RE: Nuance

Hey Chris,

Great job with so little time on that new setup!

I really liked the snaps, no heading loss and the plane showed a very clear pitch departure. It had a nice downline pace as...

RE: Nuance

Hi Jim

Here are some links to B.J. Park's site. These have good info and dimensioned pics for the Nuance. Also, review the earlier parts of this thread for some build info.

RE: Nuance

Hi Jim
I just put one in an episode. It has the same fuse. Check the build thread. Basically, its just a disk that is slightly elingated at the bottom. I think you start with 80-81mm diameter. I...

RE: Nuance

Hi jayjayneri

You may want to check the alignment of your firewall. Sounds like you may need some thrust adjustment. What does your plane do on long vertical uplines? Does it veer to the...

RE: Nuance

Hey John,
That's great to hear. I knew you would like the Nuance.

Good luck at the Nats!!

I'll see you at some D7 events later this season.

By the way, it is interesting that...

RE: Nuance

I did a measurement check on where my CG is relative to the TE of the wing root. I am approx 275mm from the TE of the wing root and 270mm from the back on the canopy mount. So, that distance being...

RE: Nuance

I tried a few different CG locations this afternoon and I have to say that I strongly prefer my 270mm location. I moved it forward about 0.5" and again 0.75" and I just don't feel that it benefits...

RE: Nuance

Here's a pic showing my battery tray location. It is over the LG mount. The TP 4400 25C pack is centered on the LG mount. Heavier packs (1160gm Sky Lipo's) are about 1/2" from the rear of the...

RE: Nuance

Dana
You will probably be very happy with the results if you go with CG in the 270-275mm range and stock incidence on wings and stabs. That is essentially where I fly mine and I am very satisfied...

RE: Nuance

TonyF also made a comment about hunting a little as well when I let him try it, but he was flying it faster than I do. Watch your speed and how you come up on the power. I notice that when I fly it...

RE: Nuance

It also took me a few flights to get into the rhythm with the Nuance. I moved from my Visa to the Nuance and I had to alter my style. The Visa is a bit more of a hot rod in comparison and it flies...

RE: Nuance

Yes, you need the power at times. I put in my higher C packs when flying F13 because I feel that the faster throttle response and lower voltage drop off during the flight really comes in handy on...

RE: Nuance

I should also add that you have to watch your throttle mgmt. guys with the 3000 Watt Pletty may have to really dial it back. With my Neu motor I watch it carefully. The only thing I can equate it to...
