RE: Sig 4*60 build.

I'm still here. I had to set the build aside for a while. I have been working so much that I need to spend what extra time I have with the family. As soon as time permits, I'll dive back into this...

RE: Where to get a field box?

piper-chuck,

Thanks. If I remember right, the ply that SIG used is all the same thickness and the box is solid. They didn,t cut corners on the unseen parts.

RE: Where to get a field box?

SAF,

If you don't mind building a box, I recommend SIG. They are completely laser cut. Here are their boxes for nitro, Mini Boss and Field Boss. The Mini holds a 1/2 gallon of fuel (1/2...

RE: Sig LT-40 Build

somegeek,

Sounds like you are doing great. Nick always was pretty generous about making time to help out. The Calvin and Hobbes sticker is great. I built SIG's Mini Field Boss but I am...

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

onlyb,

Thanks. I hadn't thought about a transparent scheme for this one. I am thinking about checkerboard on the bottom of the wing/ailerons and stab/elevator. Not sure about the topside...

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

Leon,

I seem to remember reading about someone using a G38 or something like that on a 4*120! I'm not sure how big the 120 size plane is but it seems to me that it would be a rocket if it...

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

blwblw,

If the designer or the 4* says it does not have enough rudder authority, thats good enough for me. I'll go ahead with the counter balances that I had planned on. I am going to turn the...

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

Leon,

Thats exactly why I want to counter balance them. I have read that the plane will knife edge but not that great. I am hoping by increasing the size and with the counter balance on the...

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

I don't have the engine yet so I'll be jumping around a little. I built the stab and fin today. Managed to sheet the stab before I had to quit. I enlarged the rudder by 1" and it will end up being...

RE: Sig LT-40 Build

somegeek,

Congratulations on the maiden flight! FPM has had the Tuesday program for at least the last four to five years, and they are all definitely nice friendly folks. It does get a little...

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

Made a little more saw dust today. I glued 1/2 " triangle stock to the leading edge and extended the trailing edge by 1/2". The aileron started out at 2 3/8" and ended up at 3 1/4" at its widest...

RE: Sig LT-40 Build

somegeek,

If I remember right, Tuesday is training night. There were always plenty of instructors to buddy-box with. If you run into Nick Bowling please tell him that Gene Dickson says hello. ...

Which club do you belong to in Vancouver. I belonged to the Fern Prairie Modelers in Camas before moving to the Eugene area for Engineer promotion.

RE: Starting LT-40 Build.

Mike,

It looks great! Let me know how the maiden flight goes and how she handles. Still haven't had time to maiden mine yet.[:@] At least I get a little time to build on my 4*60. I'm modding...

RE: Sig LT-40 Build

somegeek,

My LT-40 also balanced laterally and on its CG with no weight added or shifting of equipment. I used an OS .46AX, Fults nose gear and Dubro Super Strength landing gear. I was really...

RE: Top Flite Corsair and P-51 vs other kits?

This won't be my first kit, just my first war-bird. So far I have built an LT-40, 4*60 and a Fun-51. I still have an SSE in the box. These are all fun planes and all, but I want something more...

RE: Sig LT-40 Build

Flyboy76,

Thanks. I was happy to finish it. I love making sawdust, but I find covering very tedious.

RE: Choosing a belt/disc sander.

Ken,

After thinking about it. It would take longer to sand a larger area with the 1" belt. How often do you use the disc portion of the sander?

Thanks, Gene

RE: Where did my thread go ???? Censorship ???

I completely understand and agree that it illegal to change the Tx crystal. There isn't any gray area there that I can find. What about the Rx though. If your Tx has a synthesized module or you...

RE: Choosing a belt/disc sander.

Mr_Scale,

I have thought about that issue also. Plus you don't have to move the table around. Both parts have their own.

Thanks, Gene

RE: Started my 4*60 today.

Going slow but I made a little progress today. I removed the diagonal braces from the bays next to the sheeting and also 5 bays down. Made new braces and glued them into place. Made a set of servo...

RE: Changing channel on Futaba 9C Super.

Definitely! I currently use three channels and at $55 for each module at TH, $90 isn't so bad. What you quoted from Futaba is the same thing that they told me.
