OK,

I've had a couple slow days at work to think about this bird. A couple ideas I have.

1. Use 2 high torque servos for the ailerons and connect the top ailerons to the bottoms with 4-40...

Hey Cad,

The 53 oz weight is all up, muffler, ign, mount, motor. The Roto weight is without muffler which will add another 5 oz or so. Don't underestimate the 3W24 it is closer to a 30cc in...

OK,

I looked up the length of the OS 1.6 and it is 4.5" if you look at the pictures of this motor mounted in this plane 6" must be from the front of the box to the cowl.

Cad,

Is that 6" from the round firewall or from the front of the motor box?

I thought that moving the cowl would cause problems, but you never know right?
