RE: carbon fiber tape

Please understand that I'm not familiar with any of this very well. My understanding was that CF would give me more strength and more rigidity over fiberglass. Is that incorrect? If so, what would be...

RE: carbon fiber tape

I'm not certain but I think woven. I'm looking to reinforce 90 degree corner joint areas of fiberglass to fiberglass and fiberglass to wood formers. I was hoping to get some CF tape that was in the...

RE: carbon fiber tape

I have found a few other sources but didn't know about ACP so that's great. Good prices too. Thanks for that, Kevin.

carbon fiber tape

Looking for a good source of carbon fiber tape in small quantities. Ideally something like a 2" width that's 6' long. Seems to be a lot of suppliers of large rolls but can't seem to find any small...

RE: Why are heli's smaller than airplanes

Yes that was Darrell's. I was at IRCHA too with a 1:4.5 scale MD500. Big helis are fun. :)

fuel pump mode of failure

Anyone ever had a fuel pump fail intermittently where the engine would pulse slightly as the pump stalled very briefly? Just found this condition on an old pump thats been in service since 2006. It...

RE: case of Aeroshell 500

Ended up ordering from airplaneoil.com. Got to my house in Seattle in four days via FedEx ground. They double boxed it. The Shell OEM box inside another shipping box with heavy kraft paper for...

RE: Slider Location on JR 11X

That's been a matter of speculation for at least five years AFAIK. I had heard they had a 16 channel prototype but never went forward with production. It would be fascinating to see if something like...

RE: Total lock out on JR12 2.4Ghz

c_makhija, here's the verbatim text from the Flight Log manual:

RE: case of Aeroshell 500

I could have sworn the oil store had a higher price last time I looked. Must be old age catching up with me. Thanks for posting that, Mark. How was it packaged? In the OEM Shell cardboard box?

RE: case of Aeroshell 500

Gotcha. Yes, that is odd. Maybe another reason to try airplaneoil.com. :D

RE: Total lock out on JR12 2.4Ghz

Hey John, for what it's worth, I fly everything I have on an dedicated 12X and it's always been trouble free. I'm pretty meticulous about my builds and installs. My favorite bird right now is a...

RE: case of Aeroshell 500

oilstore.com has been around for ages. I've bought oil from them since 2005 and I have friends that have been buying from them since 2003. They are legit. And they have always had pretty good prices....

RE: case of Aeroshell 500

There's a joint called airplaneoil.com that has it for $202.69. The shipping is about $40 to seattle. I've bought from oilstore.com in the past and they were fine but I just thought I'd ask about any...

RE: tiny helicopters

Dick, there are quite a few little helis out there but the vast majority are garbage. I think the mCX is so popular because it truly works. ANYONE can fly it. In fact, once you place it in a hover...

RE: tiny helicopters

Yes, the little Blade mcX is a barrel of fun. It is incredible how stable it is. And the fact it can bind to my 12X was a nice bonus.

RE: Your thoughts after reading JR 12X manual

The battery is 9.6v at nominal voltage. Waiting to charge it until 9.4v simply assures that it is sufficiently discharged. The low batt alarm on the 12X does not sound until 9.0v so I still have a...

RE: JR 12X stick extensions

It may not be long enough for use with a tray but FWIW you can modify the JR 34mm red sticks for use with the 12X. You need to remove about 1/8" of material from the bottom of the stick and then it...

RE: Your thoughts after reading JR 12X manual

The 12X manual does leave something to be desired. It's not horrible, but they missed some obvious errors (like the tension adjustments).

As for the battery, I've continued to enjoy good...

RE: JR R921 Receiver Current Capability? Is a Jumper Needed?

Leo, sorry to hear about that loss. I can't add much to this discussion but I know that JR lists the limiting AMP load on it's R1221 receiver as 35 (amps) due to the servo connections themselves....
