RE: GSP Giles 202

Maxum,

I have flown the Giles 202 here for over 1 year. It's a great flying plane. Mine had a Moki 1.80 on it and was way overpowered. I lost it due to right aileron flutter. Got it down but...

RE: rich model keecat.60 size kingcat with retracts

I have mine about ready to put on the gear. Picked up an OS 91 FX this afternoon at Hodges Hobbies and will be putting on the 14x7 3 blade pusher. That should move it along right swiftly.

RE: What OS Engine is this Exactly?

Bill,

That's great information and I thank you for your time here on this. One question I would like to know... Is this an ABC engine?

Thanks much for your efforts and hope you had a...

RE: What OS Engine is this Exactly?

Bill,

I got a reply from a Nick A. in Product Support. He said they were not working on any .61's any more and didn't have all the parts to do so. But he included 4 .PDF files that had great...

What OS Engine is this Exactly?

Bill,

I have an older OS Max RF 61 pumper engine that I'm trying to get some information on. As far as I can remember I purchased it in the late 1980's. I looked for it on the O.S. site tonight...

RE: GSP Giles 202

Weighing planes on bathroom scales leaves lots to be desired in my opinion. I purchased a Rapala digital read-out fish scale from a local outdoor shop. I think it goes to a max of 25lb., so I think...

RE: GSP Giles 202

Zippi,

Did you get in the Cap-X gear and get that on ok?

Seems this thread has slowed down quiet a bit. Everyone must be building or flying the Giles.

RE: GSP Giles 202

Zippi, agree 100% with you on the looks of the gear. I bet every Giles owner would choose the chromed gear if they could see it side by side with the short CF gear. It was a piece of cake putting...

RE: GSP Giles 202

adrenalnjunky,

I certainly agree with Nitro on the servo and gears and to the extent that I'd only go with a good digital metal gear servo on the rudder. Something pretty hefty also as that it a...

RE: GSP Giles 202

Well see there... all it took was an old F**t that's been around far too many years to help you see the error. Was a neat way to do it though with the two rulers, but you have to subtract the width...

RE: GSP Giles 202

Bank Yank,

I just have a feeling that you are way nose heavy. 16oz of weight up front with a 120 there and having to have 1/8 inch of up trim just doesn't set well with me. You are either very...

Brian and family,

Let me be the first to congratulate you and your wife on the new addition. You didn't give her name in the post but she is beautiful.

Give her time... she will either go...

RE: GSP Giles 202

John, yes that's what Chip has in the instructions for the Cap-X.... BUT... I could never fly it like he does at those rates. Some of you that are 3D pilots would need that for those type...

Peter,

Greetings from Georgia in the USA. Welcome to the Giles thread and to RC Universe. Below is a quote from my thread #184. Chip Hyde sets up his Cap-X this way and it flies great. The...

RE: Chip Hyde's Cap-X - Building & Flying

Hi all,

I'm building a CapX again. It's the new paint scheme now and will go back to my favorite engine, the Moki... but this time I'm going with a new Moki 1.35 to see how that does. In my...

RE: GSP Giles 202

Wavy,

I have my Giles fitted with the Moki 1.80 and it's very strong. Over powered by a good bit I think. I also have another Moki 1.80 and a Moki 1.35. I think the 1.35 would have been fine...

RE: GSP Giles 202

I went out and measured it a few minutes ago. If you include the 3" aluminum spinner the total is about 71". That seem to be in line with the fact that the wing span is actually just a tad over 70"...

RE: GSP Giles 202

I just looked at the Chief site. Don't tell me you paid $90 more for the plane. I hope not. I used to buy from Chief many years ago when I owned a full sized Piper. They were higher then in the...

RE: GSP Giles 202

I did not have to add any weight at all even with the heavier digital servo for the rudder, the metal arm and the aftermarket and probably a little heavier tail wheel assembly which had the plywood...

RE: GSP Giles 202

BankYank, the CG is listed and shown in that instruction sheet. It shows a dimension out from the fuse to a point, and then a dimension in towards the wing tube. That is where I balanced mine from...

RE: GSP Giles 202

I'll take a crack at this one as I'm one of the ones that also doesn't do that much of the 3D stuff. BankYank my Giles has a Moki 1.8 in it and it's vastly overpowered. I flew it all around...
