RE: Everything Radial Engines

Andrea, the possibility that it may be discontunued is just another good reason you should get one while you can. There are so many OS radials out there I can't imagine not being able to run down...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Dharrell, regarding the exhaust ring fit on the OS. I found i had to do a little bit of tweaking to get the exhaust ring on but it was no problem as the headers were flexible enough. only had make...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Lansing, what an outstanding model. I think the Davis is a terrific aircraft. Saw the full size perform at Old Rhinebeck. It is a very agile airplane. They were using it in the Delsey Dive where...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Bob, I think the OS and the Saito are both good. I have an OS and it is very reliable. From my experience a good glow driver is a must if you want to minimize hassles. I use a McDaniels driver and...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Greg, If you get three views you can compare them to your plans and if close enough just have yours enlarged. I can send you pics of how I did the structure. The PO-2 is a straight forward design...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

SNJ, I use a 20/10 on my OS radial and get about 6900 rpm. With the 400
you might get to a 22/10??? DWR.

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Gnome, wow, if I figured it correctly the Techno radial is just under 2 pounds and the all up weight is 7.7 lbs. The OS weighs 6 lbs without the driver system. It would have to be a pretty big Velie...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Gnome, I did consider the Velie when choosing a plane for my OS radial.
Could you tell me the total weight and wing area? Also what is the weight of the engine and what prop and RPM? Thanks. DWR.

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Gnome, love the Monocoupe. Is it the Velie? Looks like a great combination. Liked the way you snuck it in just over the corn and greased it on. Great flying. That has got me fired up to take the...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Anthony, I would suggest weighing the plane and all components to get a total all up weight, then calculate the wing loading. This will tell you what kind of flight characteristics you can expect. ...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Another important variable I should mention is fuel. The Sirius seems to like the Morgan full synthetic oil 15% nitro fuel as do my OS singles and twins.

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Sandman, I am not familiar with the G45. Have never seen one at our club. The suject has come up and I think we all agree that the G62, with just a few ounces more weight gives much more thrust. I...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Hello Sandman, I have recently been running the OS 5 cylinder with a Master Airscrew Scimitar 20/10. Seeing 6800-7000 RPM. I always use a driver system to make sure of good low rpm operation. My...

RE: Everything Radial Engines

Any thoughts on why the Saitos take so much break in and the OS's take none? I do run them a tad rich for a couple flights then dial them in with little adjustment needed after that except for...
