The Allure nose ring has only a very slight right thrust built into it. No need for a special fuse - just shim in a touch of left thrust for your contra.

Updated 6/30/17 after failure. My mount system described and pictured below reduced the motor pinion engagement into the drive to about 3/16". This resulted in the drive pinion receptacle teeth...

I've been using 22x18F, 22x20R for years with enough bliss such that I haven't experimented with props much.
Would energy usage go up with the larger props being discussed here, or would it be...

Hi Peter,
I had a similar experience. I had noticed increasing energy consumption during flights, but shrugged it off to windy conditions.
Then I went dead stick, and as I flew directly at...

I had always thought that the original mounting of the needle bearing in a rubber grommet was a good idea in that it would allow the bearing axis to self-align with the motor shaft. Perhaps when we...

As an added note: You will need to use the white plastic standoffs that came with the original mounting grommets. These insert through the middle of the grommet assembly and are critical to the...

Hi Brenner,
Might I suggest funding your initial V4 manufacturing by taking deposits from customers? Your reputation and support have built you a loyal, trusting base of customers.

Thanks for the detailed info Dave!
Couple of questions:
1) Does the throttle tech save you energy (mah) during a flight? Are you sold on it, and if so, why?
2) Have any Contra flyers have trouble...

Mike,
Will that "optional" mount come with our planes, or is it purchased separately?
Really looking forward to an early Christmas!

I don't recall seeing posts comparing the 2 stiffness of Budd mounts.
I just got a chance to compare them subjectively on my BJ Craft Episode. I had started with the soft version and thought...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

Perhaps I don't understand what you are asking, but it sounds like you are suggesting a perpetual motion machine. You can't drive a motor with batteries and then drive a generator with the motor and...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

A follow up on my worn pinion issue:

Brenner has been wonderful and is replacing the drive pinion and bearings. He had to do a bit of work to figure out what would work with my down-level...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

New design looks great Brenner!
Is the new receptable intended to sacrificially wear so that is a maintenance item? (I'm all in favor of this wearing as opposed to the motor pinion)
My gearcase...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

Thanks guys,

I will of course make the case for reduced repair cost, but given the severity of the wear, it's hard to argue that no significant wear would have occurred had the extra 3mm tooth...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

Brenner,
Great news on the new adaptor/insert - sign me up when it's ready. Will it fit in my version 2 (I think) drive? (I'm not really interested in upgrading to the latest version) Will it be...

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

Good find Brenner!
I'm 90% certain mine stick out that 2.5mm. I'm 100% certain it came that way new - I've never opened it our had it serviced.

RE: Contra Rotating Propeller Drive for f3a 2m Pattern Planes

Is Dave Lockhart flying a Contra?

How are the Contras doing in the sound checks? Must be OK.
