In 07 i built a Fiesler FI256 & to get the gear legs more scale looking I made elliptical section Fairings out of shim brass, soldered tabs on the wire legs to locate the fairings & filled them...

It's easy, diffenteral expansion is the answer :: Put the whole thing in the freezer overnite then heat the metal quickley to 200f or so. metal plastic or metal wood will shear themselves apart...

RX problems

I have 2 Hitec RX's that have all by there lonesomes exchanged servo outputs (throttle stick works ch 2 on one ouher elev stick works the rudder & vice versa.) could a static shock into the antenna...

Problem: Last fall I bought a Hitec RCD 3500 RX & upon hooking it up in the plane I eventually figured out that servo outputs 2&3 were reversed was going to use it & just move the plugs but the trims...

The only WWII warbird I have ever seen that sounded likea real plane Was a LARGE p47 with a 4cyl 2 stroke in it!!
( 3w212) these planes all had at least 12 cylinders & the skyraider & AM1 Mauler...

Way back in once upon a time I worked for an alum. mfr., the only way they could get paint to adhere to alum was to treat it with
phosphoric acid first. It Works ( naval jelly)

I could not make the clip work that came with mine copied this from a frend::: take a small crimp on wire terminal & solder it
to a 1/8 wheel collar crimp the hot wire into the lug, that will hold...

I am assemblying a Martin AM1 from Flyboy models kit build quality looks very good - will span 60' not 58' on box no prob.
only thing so far is that the fuel tank location is way to high...

I don't smoke ,never have , but it has never bothered me. If you health Nazi's don't allow smoking why do you allow anything but electric planes ( the exhaust from fuel burning is bad for you too)...

Rite black /burnt is not bad unless it's to lean. I had one spit out what looked like aluminum paint, now thats real bad if its your engine.

Not just the H9 pawnee but generally what happened to .40 size airplanes that would actually fly well on a.40 or .46 engine ? this one in paticular begs for a .61 or .75 2 stroke.

As near as I can remember when I first ran glow engines 60 years ago fuel was about $2 A PINT or $16 a gallon. Fuel seems like a good deal to me --back then a .29 was a normal size & size does matter...

I had one just opposite : tail heavy slo poke I extended the nose 1" I suggest U look at shortening the nose an inch or two..
it will make a much better setup.

I got seriosly miffed at some collers & put tiny allen bolts in them & took vice grips to the bolt heads. these u can tighten up until they scream.

It won't work I miked a 2-56 rod & it's .072 but the threads are .081 OD . The threads are what is called roll theaded & instead of cutting the threads it squishes them up from the basic wire...

Optic 6 flaperon setup

I am trying to get my optic 6 setup to use flaperons: using Channels 1 & 6 -flaperons on,crow & camber off
when I put a degree value into flap travel the aleirons reflex approx half that amount...

Havn't seen any aluminum ones here --we have a steel one & it's ok very hard to pop up w/o help & heavy if must carry it any distance.
