I managed to reconnect the yellow wire to the back of the motor using needle-nosed pliers.
The motor beeped once I plugged in the battery so I'm pretty confident everything is back to normal.

Thanks a lot guys, this isn't my first plane but I haven't flown in a long time so I'm going to ease back in. I do have the FMS Simulator and have used it, and I will download the sky scooter file....
