Oh, A glow plug wrench (eg. Ming Yang brand) normally has a 5.5mm socket on it. Won't help too much with the adjustment other than to loosen it off, use it to tighten and you'll probably break the...

If it's like the other ASP/Magnums it will be a 5.5mm lock nut. Conveniently a similar size to that used on many RC cars.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I doubt the drain nipple position will cause a problem with oiling. You don't see people complaining about it when they invert their four stroke singles....and it's not like you'll be flying the...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

This is a problem I've seen on several Magnum single cylinders.

On one, I had a in-flight connecting rod failure. I only noticed the clip was missing when I put it back together. Could it have...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I have an old ASP 40 2-stroke and I ran it for a little while. Came used with a poorly port matched tuned pipe. Span 16000 with a 9x6! Yes, that's underpropped but I was comparing different engines...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Hi All,

This question isn't directed at the radial ASP specifically, but can anyone assist with details on the rocker arm shaft E-clips that fit on the singles? I've fitted new bearings to a...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Nice! It should inspire me to open my LA-7 and get started....

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

It's common practice on most model engines these days. The specific grade of alloy may be slightly different, which would be indistinguishable to the human eye.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I use a similar technique for all my engines. Anyone who doubts it's efficiency should try it, saves a lot of frustration and bearing bashing....

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

The .91 Magnum (also ASP) is a solid performing engine. Nothing to worry about...noting I have about 10 Magnum/ASP four strokes ranging from .52 to 1.80.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I know it's 5.5mm for all my single cylinder ASP/Magnums from 52 upto 180. Of course, there could be a larger nut used on the radial.

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I know that OS Engines sell a set of feeler gauges and tools to do this job. Saito would probably have a set as well. It isn't very expensive and will suit other 4 stroke engines. As Kmot indicated,...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I don't own one of these engines but I would probably set the valve clearances for the tightest lobe. Unless something is way off, all the other lobes should then run within the allowable tolerances....

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

So when I buy mine, where do I send it for the beauty treatment?

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

I used small slices of fuel tubing to seal the tops of Saito push rod tubes. For the lower end I used heat shrink.

Whilst the ASP/Magnum engines use a different type of seal, fuel tube should...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul

Hi,

Yes, you will find it cheaper to purchase generic O-rings rather than standard parts. They are most likely identical.

As for gaskets, you may wish to try a good gasket sealant. Whilst I...

RE: ASP/MAGNUM FS400AR Rebuild/Overhaul
