RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

The gyro is used to keep the nose pointed in the correct direction as you fly around. The gain (sensitivity) adjust how much the tail "pushes" to keep the nose in place. You adjust the sensitivity so...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Awesome. I'd say the main blades have to be snug. They need to be loose enough to move around, but they don't need to sloppy that they flop back and forth (If that makes sense?)

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

To add to what Chuck said, also check for cracks in the various parts that where mentioned. It may look connected, but it really isn't

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Hey max,

4in1 fixed and dropped in the mail this afternoon.

Since it was the tail MOSFET that fell off, I replaced that one and the main motor MOSFET while I was there. I also soldered on...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Hey max,

Received your 4in1 today. I should be able to fix it in the next couple of days.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

He is, and a great teacher. I recommend following it if you want to keep broken pieces to a minimum. He helped me learn to hover.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

To complement giz's drawing, here's a picture I took of my stock dead tail motor. You can see, if you rotate the "opposite" way, and the brush catches, you can bend/tear it off. And in this...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Yep, them's the ticket. Higher current (20 vs. 10) and lower on resistance (0.004 vs 0.0135). Highly recommend them. I've got them in my bird, and I've repaired a dozen or so 4in1 with them,...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

That's just what they do!

There are two motors on the heli. The main motor produces downward thrust but also generates a torque. The tail motor counters the main motor's torque but also...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Yep, that's where you let the magic smoke out.

For any who care, here's what I've found out about the 4in1 board

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I think I see a pattern... In what order do you do those three things in...? [sm=lol.gif]

If you need help soldering, give me a holler. One of the many things I do at work is solder SMT...

Got it, and your MOSFETs are on their journey to France.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

As Michael said, you can piggy back the FETs to double the current.

The FDS6670A is an N-Channel MOSFET
Vds = 30V
Id = 13A

Hey old friend!

I'm still alive, just busy... My wife says I have too many hobbies, I'm starting to think she may be right... :D Naaaaa!
but I should be back more often now.

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Sorry to hear about your crash.

No, it's not normal for the main rotor to spin with the throttle and trim all the way down. And there's a fail safe on the 4in1 to not spin the main rotor...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I agree with Hans. Actually, you can unplug the main motor, throttle it up so that the tail motor starts to spin and hold the heli in your hands. If you twist it one way the tail should speed up,...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

I'm one of those ones that Bill talks about... :D ...except that I can fix *some* of my problems.

I did finally blow the original MOSFET in my 4in1, and I found a drop-in replacement which can...

RE: Walkera #4 Fixed Pitch Helicopter Forum

Naa. There's a low drop out voltage regulator inside which can handle up to 15V. The MOSFETS which drive the main and tail can handle much more. The only thing you may do is blow the main motor...
