RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

A lot going on here. This model is farther along than the blog, but got delayed when we had some employee turnover that required I focus on training a new guy. This model will be fighting soon.

RE: rc

Even Koolaidman's revised statement of intent does not sit well with me. Words mean things!

Webster defines MISCHIEF - 1) a specific injury or damage attributed to a particular agent; 2) a...

RE: rc

When you claim you are trying to "(W)reak Havoc" on a group of racing sailboats, what are we supposed to think? Not many grown responsible adults will support or assist someone who is intent on...

RE: WHAT IS THIS HOLE???????

Try using an Airsoft BB. Test it by setting it in the water and watch for leakage. IT can leak a trickle and still be effective as most of the time you are running it is bailing.

RE: I need help guys!!!

Wouldn't it be easier to simply go get a different job? Why set a goal for yourself to "COLLECT UNEMPLOYMENT"? You will serve yourself much better to seek a better job and put this joker behind...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

In preparation to glass the bulkheads, first check your cannon mountings for fit. You might need to gouge out the foam from the water channeling to allow them clearance. also make sure you have...

RE: help fiberglassing

Hi Rye,

Some Pics would help. Are you going to paint this in the end? Is it glass over wood?

Pics of how bad it is now would tell what has to happen next.

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

The cannons need to be positioned under the desired turret barbette. In this case #2 turret port side and #4 turret starboard. The aft gun is a 1.5 unit cannon so it has a longer magazine. After...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

The main bulkhead had to be securely laminated to set the max beam and hold it fast while the rest of the bulkheads (vertical) and thwarts (horizontal) are set. Use 90second epoxy to set them in...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

When I was choosing what combat model ship to offer first, several factors were considered that all pointed to making the Prinz Eugen.

1st I wanted a side flipper so that the model could fight...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

With all the cutting done, its time to layout the guts of this boat. My first concern is keeping the weight centered in the boat as tight as possible. This will give the boat a much better moment...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

The windows are all cut now. The larger windows would allow me to make cuts with my grinder wheel. I will still drill the corners and sides to broach them more cleanly. This is the worst part of...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

The main hull needed only to be two toned because of the need for the penetrable skins on the sides. We need to cut ballistic windows in the hull. The final finish will be on the skins that seal...

RE: Ready to Fight Prinz Eugen Build from Keel Up. Keel Laid (Sprayed?!) 3-22-07 watch it grow!

Now with the hull and deck done, we need to install the stuffing tube and rudder. I dry fit the motor and rudder first then drill the stuffing tube hole from the inside of the hull to assure the...

RE: 1/144 Scale Iowa - Birth of a Battleship

Umi is correct.

This is a plug. I will soon be making this mold and will be posting more pics as I progress. I have been swamped with orders on my other lines so this has taken a bit of a back...

RE: fibreglass and silicon

Silicon will stand up to fiberglass. Many of my small parts molds are made of silicon.

It would be a better fix to remove the silicon and glass the seam itself. (less weight, Better bond)

Yes in lines have more torque and you can set the prop up to be in phase with the power stroke as each blade hits the water when using a two bladed prop on a surface drive. (on non-clutch drives set...

RE: 54" cat power

Cool, thanks for the business.

That one likes its CG as far aft as practical. It will run great for you. And last forever as strong as its laid up.

Post some pics up as you go.

The model boat outlet can be trusted. That boat should be fine with a fill and paint job.

RE: BIG CAT

Hey Matt,

Can you post up some pics of the inside of yours? That might help pyro understand. Was it built of single 1.5 oz mat or what? Seems to me a boat of that size needs at least a 1/4"...
