Glad to hear you kept her in one piece. I know you spent hours upon hours making your Bronco.
That is one good looking bird you have!

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Nice,
Thanks for sharing your photos. The green OV-10 reminds of the squadron I was assigned to in Germany back in the early 80's.

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Well, I am not an expert builder, but when I completed my Bronco, I stood fast by the manual when I mounted the engines. I had two flights with one engine out and I did not even know it until...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Rx tested fine. Various range tests were conducted and no problems found. (Rx is non PCM, it is a new standard 9ch Dual Conversation Futaba)
All 11 servos were in good order too. No gear damage....

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

On my way home, was reviewing the accident over and over in my mind like you would on a DVD using pause and slow motion. It still did not make any sense to me what had happened. Even with an engine...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

I'm thinking to myself, naw, it didn't find that poor excuse of a tooth pick, did it?
As I neared the isolated sweet gum I saw some white monokote. Closer inspection I saw some red monokote. When...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Now I am thinking, minimize damage as best as I could. I pulled the throtle back, hit the kill switch and held a little up elavator in hopes she could level out to some degree come down with minimal...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Sob, some bad news.
Went to fly my big beautiful bird 2 weeks ago, Sunday afternoon. Nice weather Temp in the low 70s, light SW breeze <5mhp.
Fueld her up, check the fuel settings, control...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

I fly mine with a pair of Saito 91s. I would say a pair of 60's would do fine, but 46s? You will probably have a very long roll out and slow air speed (maybe just above stall?) If it were to be...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Thanks! I did double the bulkhead with identical 1/8 birch ply, but did not think about the gusseting with tri-stock. Will make the correction tonight.
Thank you for the picture too!

Fly em...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Well I flew the 81" Bronco again yesterday. The 16 x 4s diffently got her off the groud quickly, of course, not much on the top end side of airspeed. After flying the 14 x 6 prop and the 16 x 4, I...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

I usually have two friends hold the wing on each side. At worst, one friend on the left wing, when I start the left motor. Then I move to the right motor and hold/star it too.

Fly em high and...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

I appreciate all the input from everyone. Thank you very much. I tried 14x6 and it was still a bit long until I could rotate. This just might be the nature of how this bird flies. But I plan on...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Your the second person to make that suggestion for the same reason. I believe I will try a pair of 14x6s my next go. Thanks for the advice!

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

I think you will need to bevel the lower edge to allow it to travel down. You do want them to travel up and down. Have fun!

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

Oh, one other suggestion when you build. I did not glue the cap on the back of the fuse. Instead I opted to use 4 screws. Why I do not know, but was glad when I got the the airfield and discovered...

RE: OV-10 Bronco 81"

I am working on a 81" Ov-10 Bronco myself. Found your comment and wanted to know if you have figured out the best 3 bladed prop to use?
I am using a pair of Saito 91s off a grass runway.
