I covered my plane with film, but didn't use Monokote. I found a film that is better than Monokote in every respect...it goes on easier, shrinks tight and doesn't wrinkle badly over time, is durable...

Interesting... I've got a TF ARF that flys at 21 lbs. I've deadsticked it in several times with no problem and no damage. I thought it was gliding just fine.

They do use some pretty soft wood...I guess for lightness? Or, they are building to a price point and buy the cheapest they can get. The P-51 is the least expensive 1/5 scale warbird TF sells.

It does seem like the ARF covering tends to get very wrinkled....I wonder what they use? I stripped off the original covering and recovered with a better film and I think it looks pretty good now.

I set the CG exactly as shown in the ARF manual. My plane flys "perfect". As much like a pattern plane as a warbird. Takeoff and landing are easy and smooth.

I bought an extra set of the cam blocks but found that my gear has the old round cam blocks rather than the square ones. I guess I need to buy a set of FW-190 blocks...they will fit the P-51 gear?
