RE: Super Skybolt Build

Nice work, Chris. Keep it going...

1) If you are using Stix It, than you never need unthinned dope. There is another way of sticking the Koverall on and this involves putting 2-3 coats of...

RE: Super Skybolt Build

Looking great, Chris.

A trick I picked up from the composite homebuilding crowd is to use a balloon to pressurize the fuel system. Blow it up and hook it on to the fuel line, then measure the...

RE: Super Skybolt Build

Thanks for the help, Chris. I may have to buy a set of plans and take a look for myself. Maybe this will be next winter's project, since this year is already booked...:D

Chris,

Are the plans detailed enough to scratch from? Do they show formers and a decent number of cross sections? Are you willing to share copies of your parts tracings?

Mark

RE: Super Skybolt Build

While on the topic of scratchbuilding, wood quality and remaking parts...Are the plans from this kit enough to scratch it? If not, has anyone traced/scanned/copied the formers and ribs, etc. to allow...

RE: Super Skybolt Build

I get that from the wife, too. Pay no attention to her...:D

You will like the Koverall, especially the finished product. Get a touch up gun for your spraying. An airbrush is OK if you are...

RE: Super Skybolt Build

After I posted, I was thinking I should have mentioned this, too. Koverall goes over sheeted areas with no problems and then your entire finish is consistent. Scale, as well if that matters to you......

RE: Super Skybolt Build

Since you asked...:D

I would glass the fuse and use Koverall on the open bay stuff, than paint it all. It gives a gorgeous finish and you can leave a bit of the fabric weave showing for a nice...
