RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I agree with Pat... When I was flying last week, the SC kept shutting off ... ACT switch mistakenly on. I think that ACT is more of a gimmick than a practical function. It doesn't work for beginners...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Pconn5, get a SC like now! I see you are from Hartford. Where do you fly? We fly at the Army Corp's Colebrook reservoir in NW CT, right below the MA line .. the airspace spans both CT and MA. The...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hi Pat,
I'm using the EFlite 10x7 and did not have to use any extra weight to balance the CG ... I used elastic bands to hold the battery against the bottom of the fuse to find the sweet spot, then...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Good recommendation, patnChris. I built the GWS E-Starter as my first 4ch / 72MHz ARF. It was a lot of fun to fly and modify .. I have an EFlite 400 brushless in it and along with a 3S 2100mAh Lipo,...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

NashTech, I have the Accu-Cycle Elite and it takes about 45 min to charge the packs. I generally charge below 1C as I don't like to heat the batteries up too much. 1C is equivalent to the capacity of...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I think that we need to move to tail streamers or the combat modules now. We're not ready for formation flying let alone uber-close-quarters aerial combat! No more foam confetti. Plus it freaks me...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Here's a pic of Max's Super Cub coming in for a gentle, dare I say delicate, landing.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I think that Max would rather settle it with his S&W .45 ;-)

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Dear God, Why is it so hard to fly RC airplanes in a "respectable manner" yet so easy to mid-air-collide a pair of them?

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hey Matt, Many of us use packing tape for foamie repairs... works great.

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

All good stuff, Hal. My SC has the same problems with battery lead length and with the force needed to insert the landing gear bail wire. Can't be good for the fuse. I have the opposite problem with...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Seems like a tail skid might be a better solution if the grass in the flying field is not "golf course quality". I have an E-Starter that I like to fly and belly-land but the tailwheel is fixed into...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Anyone flying the SC with LiPos?

What a great plane. Max Headspeed and I had another windy on-the-cusp-of-Autumn flying day on Saturday. We were flying in a reservoir valley and the winds kept...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

I use CA infrequently ... cementing control hinges, etc. where clearances are tight, for instance. I have two-part epoxies as the standard adhesive here, both 6 minute and 30 minute types. Since you...

RE: Official Hobby Zone "Super Cub" Thread

Hey MaxHeadSpeed....
Sorry for chopping off the tail end of your Super Cub .. . that's what happens when two newbies try formation flying in 15 kts of wind. Imagine all of that airspace above a...
