RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

Well it appears to be air worthy. It flew (very nicely) and landed without incident. I did have a close call on my first approach, I've never landed a Yak and it slows way faster than the Extra did....

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

It's ready, just need the wind to die down.

I'll watch the kevlar, it may fray against itself. I made an offset with washers but it's very close. The entire run is visible, so I will watch them...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

Here are a few shots of it mocked up, only the rudder is hinged at this point.

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

Well, well, well. It looks like some of the parts are turning white (covering applied). I still need to cover the tops of the wings and the ailerons. Then I will start hinging and installing control...

RE: DL-50 engine

I hope you are confusing a 20x8 with a 22x8, I'm pretty sure the rod would come out the side of mine if I held it wide open with a 20x8 on it (unless maybe it was a TBM) Mine was turning a pt 22x8...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

I was wondering if you have any tips on changing my wing servo mounts over?

I'm just not sure how to go about it, if you don't recall, I will just mock up the new servo mounts...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

Yours is looking top notch.

I need to start getting the surfaces ready.

How many rolls of...

Thanks guys.

I have the turtledeck and right side of the stab done. Time to have some dinner.

The turtledeck is far from perfect, the top sheeting settled quite a bit between the stringers...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

I'm getting a little excited, it's starting to look like something. I'm not as terrible at covering as I feared, but I'm not as good as I hoped either. It will be what I call a 10 footer. It will...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

I would have to guess I will lose about the same. Maybe just a little more because I have 3/32 sheeting. I weighed the pieces from the rudder and elevators. 1.7 ounces. It's not much but I'm building...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

I'm not too far behind. I have a tube for my elevator wires, no tube for an antenna because I'm using Futaba FASST 2.4mhz. I have the hatch covered and I'm gluing the canopy on now. I built the horn...

RE: Brent Good Custom Airframes 50cc Yak 54

Well my pace has slowed quite a bit from my jack rabbit start. I'm going to try to do at least one thing every chance I get.

Tonight I made some holes for the aileron servo leads. I could not...

RE: DL-50 engine

You make no mention of your altitude, temperature, humidity or barometric pressure any one of the things alone can cause a 300 rpm difference, not to mention if you have 10 22x8 menz S props you will...
