I tend to ignore the reviewers sometimes. They tend to get too technical and *geekie* in their reviews.
Who cares if it's a clone of another game. Game player reviews are much more realistic.

What model laptop is it?

you can try hitting F8 or F12 at the splash screen that comes up and go into the boot menu. From there you can choose your hard drive and see if it boots from it.

Frankly I don't mind if a game plays like God of War. As long as it's good and has it's own original storyline.
it will be something to tide me over until God of War 3 comes out.

Sounds like the HDD in your PS3 is having issues. I would try replacing that first before deeming the system failed. the PS3 takes standard laptop 2.5 hard drives. a 160GB drive can be had...

You can maintain all you want.. but Windows WILL slow with age. Rather than wasting time and power defragging and cleaning registry and I just blow away my Production drive. After the reimage....

I use the same method.. tried and true... wipe and reloads take about 10 mins using WinAIK shell and Ghost32.

+1 agree on LG LCD's

not sure about gaming mode on LCD monitors, But I have a 38" JVC I-ART FLAT TUBE CRT TV with that mode and I must say it did make the games pop and bring out more image...
